Ha, so New yORK is afraid of fracking, but yet they're GLAD to send all their garbage to Ohio...go figure...
David,
Although it is about time, sometimes there is a reason and it may be a windfall to the landowners of NY.
It is about time the tail stops wagging the dog.
Ron,
I do agree that the timing is better now than 2 years ago. Ohio garnered all of the attention for the past two years, rightfully so. New York's potential is certainly less than the sweet spot of Ohio, but it has a great deal of value in its own right. In particular I think the western, southern tier will now get attention with the Utica and Rhinestreet formations. The Marcellus is a wild card in Allegany County & as you know I am sitting on two parcels with potential. Time will tell..
Drilling will commence in the State of New York when Shel Silver is ousted as House leader and when the people of NY elect a Republican Governor . . . . . . . which is to say . . . . . . . never!!
Ouch,
Frank you are killing me. In reality I don't see how they can legally continue this moratorium. By definition it is temporary and it is state law to extract minerals in the most efficient manner. But we are run by a bunch of leftists...
Quite so. And leftists are not to be confused with Democrats. Consider:
In Pennsylvania drilling for Marcellus natural gas got its start under the watchful eye of Democrat Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell. Governor Rendell is a former chairman of the DNC for goodness sake! Nobody ever accused Mr. Rendell of being a Republican. Never!
But Governor Rendell put Pennsylvania first. He sought to exploit drilling, in as safe a manner as possible, for the overall good of his beloved Commonwealth. These were the actions of a traditional Democrat, not the leftist, agenda-driven, ideologues currently controlling NYC and sadly, the entirety of the late, great, Empire State. What you have in NYC today, and they run Albany and everything else beneath the "NY" banner, is filthy, anti-American, extreme left-wing scum.
I work in the Marcellus for a heavy haul rig moving company. I'm a landowner with an active gas lease and will soon be locked into a production unit. Our company has been to NY in the past and more recently in OH scouting for terminal facilities. So now that I've established my credentials, I must say that I'm pro- "safe" drilling. Believe me, I've seen some nasty looking/smelling stuff that I'm sure no one would want spilled on or near their land, nearby waterways, or road surfaces. And also, believe me, I've seen some of this crap dripping, oozing, occasionally gushing onto unprotected surfaces from some of the rig components we've hauled.
So all that being said, some of the remarks I've read attacking fellow citizens as scum and un-American don't impress me in the least. It makes me not want to come here for news and info regarding shale gas.
Tim,
This thread has had none of this negativity, why bring that issue up here? Keith Mauck, site publisher, has worked hard to clean up the past negativity and he seems to be accomplishing that.
As far as safe drilling practices, I believe everyone on this site advocates for safe drilling. NY will release the most stringent rules in the nation and will aid safe practices. My only problem has been the length of this moratorium. The delays are a result of politics and not the science.
Greetings to you, Mr, Perotto! If you would kindly go back to the first page of remarks, you'll see where a poster ended his remarks with the un-American and left-wing scum "gems". Certainly, discussion on topics such as safe drilling practices and hydraulic fracturing are emotion laden, but it doesn't have to descend into the gutter.
I agree, no reason for that kind of name calling, it doesnt serve any purpose.
Tim,
I've been around some very active, vocal enviromentalist. Also have listen to their speakers contradict themselves all in the interest of hearing both sides to make up my own mind. My first instint says your one of them and are in disguise. I know many workers in the industry and don't doubt things leak. To a man they tell me you can and will get fired on the spot if you don't report any spill of any kind or size. Nothing is allowed to touch the ground. Are there workers who cover it up? Probably, but they don't last long these days and we can all thank our enviromentalist for that. they absolutely have the O&G on guard.
I can assure you I'm not an environmentalist, although I do wish to not destroy it in the process of energy extraction. For every environmentalist, there's at least one person willing to destroy anything or anyone for the sake of corporate or personal financial gain. For sure, spills of any kind are to be immediately reported. But things happen, as is often said.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
