When in Columbiana County folks were thinking Kenyon was signing for Chesapeake

I think they were exclusively for CHK in all te counties they leased in

That is correct.

Can anyone tell me if Kenyon Energy oil/natural gas leases are legal to their knowledge?  I'm beginning to wonder.  Should I seek the advice of a lawyer?  We have had this lease for almost 4 years now.  I have been trying to contact Kenyon Energy and it's virtually impossible.  Does anyone have any ideas on how I could approach this?  Thank you for your time and consideration.

Why would the lease not be legal?  What particular issue are speaking of?  The lease was (I'm sure) assigned to Chesapeake, so they are who you need to contact, not Kenyon.

Thank you so much for all the information that you all have given me.  It is greatly appreciated!  I do have another question that I seem to hit a wall every turn I make.  How do I find out what well, well pads, etc. are in my leased parcels?  Is there an office at the local courthouse that could provide answers?  There has been an extreme amount of wells going in.  All of which surround our land and/or butt up against it.  Some of the pads have as many as 6 well heads.  I venture to say a minimum of 10 pads have went in.  I am not sure where to obtain the information on which ones pay royalties to our land.  As I understand they go in units.  Is this correct?  My lease is with Chesapeake.  How long are they legally allowed to with hold royalty payments from land owners.  Some of the wells are producing but not all of them. I called North Canton office.  I was given an answer on how many pads pertain to my land but was cut short by the individual telling me that they would have to contact Oklahoma City headquarters for Chesapeake.  Does anyone know where I could obtain a correct, direct and legal answer?

One way to find out information about wells near you is to ues the ODNR Gas and oil Well viewer.

http://www2.dnr.state.oh.us/website/dog/oilgasviewer/index.html

Zoom in on your land and then click on the identify button at the top of the screen, then click on the well that you are interested in.  Then click on the Well Summary Report for that well.  Then click on the PLATMAPS.pdf link at the bottom.  From the Platmap you will be able to see who is in the unit.

Can anyone tell me if they have started getting royalties from or around the area of New Rumley township, Harrison County Ohio?

Thank you so much for the detailed information Bruce!!!!!  I do have another question...go figure.  lol  Who do I talk to about a ROW agreement?  What company?  Or should I just wait for them to approach my husband and I?  Thank You once again for all your help!!!!

They will contact you for a ROW.
