I don't mean any disrespect by using the word stupid. I have always loved the phrase used in 1992 by James Carvelle .."It's the Economy Stupid"...

The point of the expression was and is that the answer and/or reason to a question or a problem can be quite simple and staring us in the face. For example; global warming. Most serious scientists know that the sun has the greatest effect on our environment. So it is with global warming, during periods of high sun spot and solar flare activity our atmosphere tends to warm. The opposite of course is that when sun spot and solar flare activity ebbs the temperature of our planet drops. During the last century when the average temperature of the planet rose "SLIGHTLY" the sun was very active. Recently activity on the sun has subsided and we are experiencing a cooling phase in our environment.

Why do I bring this up on this forum ? Because one of the reasons the anti shale development crowd uses against shale development is that fossil fuels, such as natural gas, cause global warming. That is absolute nonsense. It's The Sun Stupid !

The Sun's heat and light is what makes this planet - Earth - hospitable to life.  Also, the gravitational forces exerted by the other planets on Earth, and on each other, play a major roll in why the Earth orbits around the Sun the way it does.  Too much gravitational pull - the Earth is closer to the Sun and is hotter.  Too little gravitational pull - the Earth is farther from the Sun and is cooler.  Simple physics.  Ever hear of the "Goldilock" Zone?  Additionally, if the Suns output of heat and light rise - things are hotter here.  If the Suns output falls - its cooler.  Again, simple Physics.
