I have been approached by a geological survey company (TGS-NOPEC) who want to drill some holes on my land..... Do they compensate for that and how much do they pay per hole? Any one know? They drill down 30 feet and blow up a small explosive charge while they record data on underground formations? I don't have details yet. The rep is coming tomorrow afternoon to discuss particulars with me..... Any feed back appreciated........

Dale is wrong. Do the math on that. That's $25,600,000 per sq. mi.
If you have a spring as a water source you may want to reconsider letting them blow holes in your land.
Its interesting to look to see where the new permits are being applied for after a 3-D Sizemic has been done,it takes several months for the gas companys to digest the new info.
We signed with TGS on Saturday, they explained the whole process, yes it is $5.00 per acre, they clean up after their done, pretty simple agreement. The way I look at it is we signed a nice lease with Gulfport, and if this testing helps them extract more wet gas from under my property have at it. By what I've heard most of my neighbors have too.

Water springs were my concern a year ago when seismic testing was being done in my area. The testing company agreed to place only the receivers on my fields with no shot charges or thumper trucks. Another suggestion is to include a deadline for work completion in the contract, don't leave it open ended. I have no complaints about the process.
Ask for 10 if they are offering 5. A company came through last year doing it in Harrison co offering 5, I signed. A few months later they came to my brother offering 10, I asked the guy if I could get the 10 since I already signed. He gave me a number and was paid 10 when the check came!

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale.
