In Seneca Twp, Monroe Cty, Ohio I have a small interest in a well.  There are 5 laterals, 4 of these on the DNR map show "drilled" the 5th one shows "Plugged Back"  does anyone know the exact meaning of "Plugged Back"?

Got it thanks

Rick - In my experience, wells were plugged back in both open and cased hole situations: open hole if a cement plug was required to isolate a hole problem encountered during drilling operations and to facilitate a sidetrack, and cased hole to isolate a lower producing or formerly producing zone to allow access to a potentially productive zone uphole. Plugging back is also commonly used to isolate unwanted water production.
