Excerpts from the Allegheny Front story and audio: http://www.alleghenyfront.org/fracking-is-becoming-a-big-deal-in-th...

"The three leading Democratic candidates for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Republican Pat Toomey have been sparring over the past few weeks over environmental issues—particularly fracking.

Former Congressman and Navy Rear Admiral Joe Sestak and Braddock Mayor John Fetterman have both called for a moratorium on fracking until regulations are tightened. Katie McGinty, former chief of staff for Governor Tom Wolf, does not support a moratorium.

“I’m for a moratorium on fracking,” Sestak told WPSU’s public affairs program Take Note recently. “How can you ever do something where the solicitor general has said our Department of [Environmental] Protection (DEP) wasn’t prepared to oversee the drilling? And it didn't have the proper regulations nor the enforcement of it, and therefore you see where our drinking water is being damaged."

Sestak was referring to a 2014 Pennsylvania solicitor general’s report that found the DEP provided inconsistent and inadequate oversight over the fracking industry."

Amazing to me to hear proud proclamations of Obama support and the evils of "fracking". Bizarre at best!

gotta say what will get you votes!!

I imagine the typical voters' thought process kind of like this: I really like that my house is warm in the winter, but I would like it even more if it was warmed by "green" energy.  I don't know much about this fracking business, but it just sounds bad... There's gotta be a better way that we can make millions of peoples' houses warm that we can switch to, like, overnight, right?

Hahah.

OH, and plastics?  Idk where they come from, no idea, but if it involves fracking we should probably just stop using plastics...

The problem with these people is the problem with most politicians; they say what they think is needed to get them elected. These folks probably know little about "fracking" and shale development.

What they do know, is that environmental leftists and their organizations contribute millions of dollars to the campaigns of politicians that spout the "clean and green" mantra.

Sadly the green energy and anti "fracking" policies they spout are not in the best interest of the citizens they will represent.

I believe that's called hypocrisy . Good luck PA, you elected a socialist, enviro-whacko as Governor why not a socialist enviro-whacko U.S. Senator?

Fracking is safe in Ohio, just kick the drillers out of PA and they can come to the "Promised Land" as Bible johnny calls it.

Bible johnny is starting to talk about his real home state of PA, hoping to win PAs Citizens vote.

Who would want a president that won't protect his state citizens from O&G theft?

How has this theft been kept from the Citizens of Ohio?

Could it be that the Ohio news outlets are under the control of Republicans for Bible johnny?

I'm betting those that favor johnny are planning to get a cush job in Washington for keeping johnny's secrets. Isn't that how Democracy works today?

Whatever, Paul. You liberal progressives have done more to destroy this country than fracking ever will.

Agreed BA.

Paul needs to stick with his passion for safe bicycling. A subject that is very shallow and easy to comprehend without doing any due diligence on the subject matter. Of course by reading his comments elsewhere on bicycling I'm not too sure he has a firm grasp on that subject either.

If one were to take the time to listen to whatever debate Paul is talking about you will not find an actual debate on the subject at all.
