I don’t really know but this was the scene one day last week.
More than likely its a redrill - indicated by 0100 at the end of the horizontal permit. Probably drilling the vertical deeper than the target formation to make sure they know exactly where it is and to calibrate their models. Then they will plug back to a point and go back in to drill the horizontal portion from the same vertical location. Pretty common practice in the Marcellus when companies dont have a lot of drilled wells close by.
Thank you. Seems logical.
This is why the production #s may be lowballed. If it looks like there's not much oil&gas there; they can lease all that acreage for the $25.per acre and 12-1/2 % royalty deal. There's no-one in the state guberment checking the gauges. So they can say whatever. Best to sit at the wellsite and count the trucks leaving. Of course they'll just say most of them are brine trucks taking away frack wastewater. Of heard tales of them capping wells, saying there's nothing there, then re-leasing in 5 years or so for a song n dance, the start pumping the oil! Not much landowners or lawyers can do if they want to be that way. We need a "well production police dept." in this state, but right now,it's landowner against the oil co.s
I was by the well site off 95 north of Butler on Sunday. All I can say is Cabot is spending some big bucks on the pads. They are very large and very well constructed.
Very true words Bo
There’s another pad 1 mile west of Loudonville village limits too. Brightbill is the landowner.
Is that Brigtbill pad an additional site or part of the original COG plan ?
No permit but rumored as the 5th pad

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
