Beekmantown is pinpoint drilling, to a sort of underground dome, they usually do extensive seismic before going after it. no horizontal that i know of.
Kastle and Enervest are after Beakmantown in Crawford County
Is there anybody interested in Beaver Center? Some company came by a couple years ago and did seismic work on Lockwood Rd. We haven't heard anything since.
"Who's Calvin"? I would assume Calvin Ernst.
Nice site Chip. It's amazing what you can find when you look for what the producers are telling their investors. One gets the impression that producer's costs, including land acquisition costs, are low in this area - maybe compared with Texas and Oklahoma where folks are a little more knowledgeable about O&G.
Of interest is the following presentation by a geologist using
Range slides.

There is potential in the upper strata, the Upper Devonian Shale etc., [above the Utica and Marcellus] for production but if the material is accurate, it does not look exciting for NW PA. I have heard in one company's presentation that it is not just shales that have potential for production.
The fact that one company holds enough leases to control an area limits the market for you to lease your property, but the market is probably pretty limited anyway. Occasionally there is competition for areas.
BUT - IF YOU CAN WAIT AND DO NOT NEED IMMEDIATE CASH, at some point the producer will need you if you have un-leased property and your bargaining position will be strong. Unfortunately, there could be a very long wait before you can begin that poker game - perhaps for 100 years or more but hopefully a little sooner. Where there is lease activity and not much sign of drilling I would guess there are middle men picking up pieces expecting to sell at a profit to the producer in control of the area. Landowner's should try to get that profit for themselves.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
