Jack...are they building pipelines?
There's no law that lets operators file bogus numbers on any form, completion report or otherwise. it's fun to imagine a secret conspiracy where all bad news is really good news, and if that makes a person feel better, go for it.
I smell a rat......I doubt very much the wells are all bad...they don't build pipelines to bad wells, not when then cost millions and millions and have a long way to go.
We were once advised (by who we think is a very reliable source pertaining to the E & P Industry) that a Well Developer can 'write in' (on the Completion Report) whatever numbers he pleases insofar as 'Test Result Estimates' or 'Initial Production Estimates' are concerned.
What must be accurate on the other hand are the Production Figures and Income on the 1099 Form once the Well is complete and producing.
For what that may be worth to others as far as these latest comments are concerned.
I'm sure that it's not that simple if you look at leasing activity township by township. But the gas companies do have to draw their lines somewhere, and county lines are easy places to do that.
Every disappointing well uses a similar story. No gas company ever wants to admit a big chunk of their acreage isn't prospective. I've spoken to folks I've known at a variety of gas companies since I started in the business 30 years ago, and none are interested in our Crawford County acreage right now. If they all believed that the Lippert well's results weren't representative, that wouldn't be the case. But it's just one well - we'll get other chances.
I was told the only reason the Lippert well was not to good was that the Petroleum engineers did a very poor job on the frack ????

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
