donald; the sad thing is that some people will join that group.  Imagine if you were that company and only a few thousand ares were represented.  Getting that large a bonus and maybe 3% or more royalties on 3000 acres (or more) would set you up for life. That kinda payback draws a lot of greedy people in. Hopefully, no one will join but I am sure a few will.

Bob;  we have talked several times to the other groups in efforts to work together.  But they see "profit" as evil in this Atlas Shrugged world we live in and refuse to do so. Class envy is destroying this country.

James; I understand that you are disappointing there have been no offers up to now.  We all wish we had great offers for everyone. But the reality is that the companies hold all the cash and thus the cards.  They offer only when they see the time is right to do so. there has been little activity in the county and few good offers to individual land owners also. But to say Cx have done nothing is not accurate.  Cx has been talking to companies, growing the group, updating members, and more. Perhaps there will be a deal before your agreement expires, maybe not. No way to predict. Either way I wish you well in the process.

Jim Litwinowicz thanks for the positive and constructive information on the NAPE meeting in Houston. It's the first time anyone has given an actual number of energy company visits to this area, that I know of,most just say they are interested in N/W Pa.I'm not a CX member so if the question I have is confidential I understand, but has the lack of infrastructure (pipelines, etc.) ever been an issue?

Janice, et al,

CX, NWPA, etc. etc. are all claiming to be David and will protect us from the advancing Goliath.  The problem for me is that I can't tell which one is really David and which is just a punk kid swinging a leather thong and a rock to look tough.  If I'd really been a biblical bettor before the battle, I'd have wanted a goliath-size partner with excellent sling skills and a big conventional armory, too.

In this case, we could have a well-armed giant if our candidates could learn to cooperate instead of just saying "pick me, I'm on my way out to the battlefield, and I'll take good care of you with my little sling and no armor"  Acres and unity will win this battle over marketing to landowners.

janice, i've been to 7 cx mtgs and was also presented with being a channel partner,i worked my neighbors over and over. i inquired about having twp meetings instead of the run of the mill same old same old places. (hence the vfw in titusville and the elks in meadville). i said it before and i'll say it again. THE STUBBORN PEOPLE WILL NOT TRAVEL FROM THEIR HOMES AT NIGHT!!! But they will however be curious if the meetings are at the local firehall or twp bldg. as smart as you people think you are you are no smarter than the next joe.  Now that i played my position and see that the team chooses to look down on the landowners when we are the people that are making you rich i think i'll take my chances with the 2percent penalty. I brought 9 neighbors to the meeting in meadville after the mercer / halcon disaster they were not impressed by the presentation or the reasons given. now with the pgh nape i see chests being puffed again, lets see what the other half of the team does. thanks and good day.

Im not trying to bash CX because they have got alot of landowners good leases and alot of money, Im just trying to say that the Mercer County disaster has really hurt their image and I think it is causing some companies to stay away from dealing with them. I hope they do get me a good lease in the next few months, I will have given them 12 months to get something done for me, after that I will try to get something on my own. Lets all hope they get a deal for Crawford County.

When the companies start leasing they will also lease to landowners on their own, I have been to several CX meetings over the past 2 years, I never joined a group for Mercer or Venango County but decided to place our property we own in Crawford County into the group, we signed up with CX the day before the Mercer County Halcon disaster hit and here we sit 7 months later and nothing has happened. We signed up our property in Mercer county for $3500 and 18% royalties and didnt have to pay CX anything. We didnt get as high of an offer as CX got, but we all know how the deal worked out for alot of the  landowners who still havent got paid as of today.

Cx actually had great results from NAPE in Houston last month.  They had a lot of companies express interest in Crawford, Mercer, and Venango Counties.  Five of the companies have already sent representatives to the offices to begin negotiations. If you attend a members-only update meeting, they will go over it in some detail.

NAPE East in Pittsburgh could be even better as it will have companies just interested in the Appalachian Basin. The Houston show had companies from all over the globe and companies that do just off shore drilling. Some didn't even their Appalachian people in Houston but have them scheduled for the Pittsburgh event.

If one opts out of the group in Aug and we announce a deal a week later, they may let you back in at 6%. But if you opt out in August and we announce in Oct or later you will definitely have to pay the 8% fee to get the same offer. I know a couple of people that had that happen to them in previous groups.

The number of "pot-stirrers" on GMS has increased tremendously since the site's early days ...sad.  Except for a few posters the learning side has dropped off far too much.

It sounds like a goodly number are waiting for CX to get the job done without taking any responsibility themselves for "talking their Group up!".. Isn't this supposed to be a team effort, meaning 1/2 don't sit on the bench waiting for the other half to score?  PLAY  your  POSITION! If you don't know it, go to a meeting and learn. Teams win, not individuals.

NAPE  East in Pittsburgh this week is even more important than Houston's NAPE event.  Why?Because all companies are focused on Marcellus/Utica @ this 3-day meeting.  We aren't sharing the floor with Eagleford, Haynesville, Bakkan, etc...It's REALLY time to strut!

If you know a company that will work harder to market your AC, and go beyond the $$ & %'s to secure a deal you can live with in environmental peace after the job is done, then you should be with that company.

Incidentally, did you know that CX only gets paid AFTER you are paid.  They get nothing on your royalty, On a 5 and 5 lease, the second time you realize a hefty payment CX gets nothing.  Sounds like more people need to hear a meeting's message again. All did not sink in, and more can be learned.
