So all of you that comment seem to be closer to Ohio.  We are in Richmond Twp.  After looking at the link below for Halcon, it looks like our property isn't even in the Point Pleasant.  How far up do you think it reaches?  Sometimes it is hard to see exactally.  Does anyone have insite to that?

Jim,

I'm pretty much the same and from everything I've read "volitile oil" is what they are after. Then "wet gas" is next. Follow these two line down southwest right into Ohio where the big money leases were occurring last year and all the drilling is occurring now . Two problems I see for our area is no current pipeline (fixable) and all the dam Range/Atlas HBP land around this area.

Jim Hall The other day you posted about two new well sites around Linesville. Are you sure your buddy wasn't talking about the two in Espyville? I drove by them tonight and they have moved the rig in to the Staub Site, I think it was Patterson UDI 260. It is not set up yet but they were working when I went by. Also drove past the Kerecman site and Hawbaker was working there on the pad. It looked like they brought more equipment in so maybe that is what he was talking about. These wells are only about 5 miles from the center of Linesville. I did talk to my buddy that works for DEP on Sunday and he said Halcon has not applied for any other wells around Linesville

Berk, Halcon's map looks like i'm on the border between "volitile oil" and "wet gas". Do you think this is a good spot to be ?

Halcon's latest. A couple good looking maps included for our region.

Nice to see the Byler well plans expanding.  Does anybody know if this is in any way driven by the Lippert flare results (or any other insight into this nice expansion)?

A comment to the old well length thread...

Horizontal drilling and fracking is a (relatively) new technology, and is still evolving.  Each formation, and maybe even each area of each formation, is different.  Therefore, we should expect that horizontal length will vary widely, dependent on all the above factors.  Wells drilled 20 years from now could have 2 or 5 mile horizontals.  On the other hand, the industry could move to offshore methane hydrate in 15 years and walk away from this years leases with a tidy profit and incomplete production of our oil and gas (but still "owning" them forever via HBP).  Any financial consideration beyond a bonus payment and a permitted plan is speculative, and the values should be discounted accordingly.  Caveat Leasor.  Either commitment to drilling plan in a lease or shorter terms or advance royalties are all highly desirable.

Sounds like it will be 6 wells on the pad instead of just two. Usually when the sites are projected and mapped. They designate the wells with the letter (H) after them if there is more than one or in a unit. Take for instance some wells in our area that only have one well on location with an (H) after it. Just down the road or across the field another well with the same name, but with an (H) after it also. For example Road Well #1H, Road Well #2H... That would be most likely reason.

What I was looking at was they started out as a 2HD now they are up to 6HD. So is this 6 wells or am I misunderstanding what i'm reading?

Comment by gary smith on February 3, 2013 at 1:18pm

oh, were two filed earlier?

Comment by gary smith on February 3, 2013 at 1:16pm

i'm only picking out four wells berk, from reading the permits. four wells and four alternative waste disposal methods. fours better than one !
