It's worth remembering that Shaledirectories.com has a terrible track record with their "rumors". They seem willing to print almost anything to sound like they're in the loop, but I've hardly seen any of it come true.

I was told last week that Shell basically has everything they have in Appalachia for sale.  There are some interesting suitors poking around right now at that acreage...

It looks like Halcon is doing the same thing with Staab that they're doing with Allam and Rainbow in Venango(permitting verticals).  The Staab permit is for a vertical well.  Perhaps to take core samples to promote a sale?  Your guess is a good as mine.  As far as the Byler, it looks like Swepi is just re-permitting.

Jim T.   I have interest in the Staab as well as the Byler.  I regularly check the DEP production info and well permitting.   The DEP site shows the Staab with 0 output for gas, condensate, and oil for the 1st half of 2013.  The 2nd half shows 3.3M of gas with 0 condens, and 0 oil.  Then, in the comments sections it says 'preparing application for inactive status and evaluating pipeline and marketing options.'    There was a video on you- tube awhile back that lasted for around a minute and showed a huge flame with a heckova lotta noise coming from it.  I haven't seen any other info on it.   It's about 9 mi W of my property.   The Byler also has my interest since it's 11 SSW of my place and for the 1st half of 2013 they show 0 gas and 100 bbl of condens, but for the 2nd half they report 0 production.  The 4HD was permitted  in 11/12, the 2HD and 6HD were permitted 3/13, and now on 3/17/14, they have renewed the 6HD.   Good news, I hope, but I sure would like to know their findings and thoughts, as well.   Any add'l is appreicated.  Berk had some good info from time to time, but haven't seen much from anyone, poste here.  mark

Lippert I believe is basically a dead well. I am uncertain if there was some technical screw-up in the drilling or fracking or whether it has petered out because of adverse geology? The well supposedly produced some oil initially, and early reports were that it was going to be a monster of a well.

Take a look at Master Limited Partnerships, a vehicle used by producers for pipelines.
Master Limited Partnerships would seem to be arms-length companies.  And after the shares are sold to unsuspecting investors looking for a relatively safe income investment, can you mess them up because some landowner is unhappy?
