JR, I think different rigs are used to drill the vertical and then to drill the horizontal part of the well. The new rig on the property may be the horizontal drilling.
Desko well from my recollection is in Richland Twp. I hope my memory serves me well on this. The well has not been drilled as yet. Halcon now seems to be concentrating efforts in NW Mercer County and SW Crawford County where geology is thought to be better.
When the fracking job gets going there should be a whole lot of box trucks on the site and more activity on site than at any other time. There will likely also be loads of tankers coming to and from the site. Tankers may be hauling water or other substances. If oil produced, one would expect it to be transported from site by tankers. IMHO and subject to correction and amendments by people with more knowledge.
I heard it was drilled. Scheduled to be fracked in January. If there is a problem with the well, it is a setback, nothing more.
@Mark, there is another smaller rig on the pad now. It was moved in in the early morning hours before daylight on Sunday morning. I don't understand enough about the drilling process or what can go wrong to speculate about what they're doing with it though.
Sam, was the Allam well completed or did they have trouble drilling the well. Previous posts suggested that the drill steal may have been stuck in the well. This could have caused them to loose the well.
Where is Desko well? Thanks!
In Venango County Allam well is drilled. Rainbow and Glista permits have been granted. The Desko permit was applied for in October and is pending.

Not sure what to make of the obvious omittance of the SCC Glista and Rainbow wells around Polk on pages 25 & 26. Seems particularly odd considering that the access road and well pad are completed for the Rainbow well. It's just waiting for a rig to come in a drill... Any thoughts or speculation?
Did they finish drilling and move on to the next site? That is what is sounds like. Range has a plans for utica wells in Venango in 2013. Chevron and Seneca also active. Check out the press release from National Fuel on Forest County well which is very cluse. Hopefully, Shell will drill in Venango soon.Gas prices hopefully will continue to rise. Everything looks good for Venango.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
