Natural gas production from shale formations is a fast-growing segment of the United States’ natural gas supply, and is considered one of the… Continue
In a special report on hydraulic fracturing, in the July 6th edition of the Oil and Gas Journal, the authors write that, “the need for communication of accurate information to the public, lawmakers, and regulators is imperative on various drilling-related topics, including hydraulic fracturing, water use and supply, and surface use. [Especially given the] active development of massive US natural gas shale plays in regions of the country….”… Continue
We need to “move forward” with a working group in order to discover the best drilling practices for the safe extraction of shale gas, Jim Costa (D-CA), Chair of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources said at a June 4th oversight hearing on unconventional fuels and the potential of shale gas.
The hearing didn’t really resemble its title. Or… Continue

The EnergyBiz Leadrship Forum was put together well. The focus of the conference tackled the effects of the Obama stimulus package on the power industry, as well as the short- and long-term consequences of the energy and economic crises. As I mentioned in a previous post, I was a little disappointed that CNG was not directly tackled in depth. It seemed that every other energy aspect was covered except CNG. This absence is probably explained when one looks at the current… Continue

Last night I saw a commercial for the Pickens Plan (www.pickensplan.com). If you have not checked his plan out, make sure you do. The last time we saw a Texan putting on a personal campaign of such magnitude was Ross Perot. Pickens plans on spending $58 million promoting the use of wind power and increased use of natural gas. Perot spent around $64 million dollars on his 1992 campaign.…
