how far in feet can the oil company drill a bore hole..i seen one that was 7000 feet can they go more ?

In the meantime I found a formula on line to convert torque ft.-lb.(considering rpm) to horsepower.
(ft.-lb.) x (torque rpm) / 5252 = horsepower
So (for the top drive) I'm finding (50,400 ft.-lb.) x (120 low gear rpm) / 5252 = 1151.56 horsepower (in low gear).
Sound about right ?

Sounds about right to me. Lots of moving iron, noise and vibration on those rigs, not for the faint of heart!
