It seems more evident now that the sweetest spot of the utica. the spot with the most production The most profitable. the best mix of 75% ligiuds,25% dry gas, M/L. is gonna be southwestern Harrison county/ northeastern Guernsey co. OHIO. anyone got any proof to the contrary?

true, add nw belmont.
it's going to be difficult to determine the sweet spot until pipelines/infrastructure are in place. There could still be"sweet spots" undrilled because there is no way to transport the gas/oil as of yet. Time will tell IMO
Jason,....I could not agree more.......only serious drilling will go on where their is pipelines/infrastructure present....It would appear to me that a lot of the Utica southern area currently does not have the pipes in the ground and thus drilling in those areas is only exploratory in nature only at this time....why would you spend $4-7,000,000 per well and have no way of getting the product to market?...I believe you will see pipes in the ground horizonally before you see pipes in the ground vertically,..... it only make good business sense.............IMHO.......gary
Mark West is racing to lay gathering pipeline into the real estate noted in this posting. They have said it will be complete by year end. First hand observation yesterday makes me skeptical of year end, but it should be ready shortly thereafter. They also will have a 125 MMcf/d processing facility complete in early 2013, that will be expanded to 1Bcf/d. Fractionator will be complete later, but in the interim they plan to truck the NGL's from Harrison County.
This was confirmed via a chance meeting with a Mark West engineer this morning in St.Clairsville.

There aren't enough holes in the ground, in enough places, at enough depths, with enough flowing, drilled and completed as best as they could be, to pin point "the" sweet spot yet.....There is not proof yet..
I live in kirkwood township in belmont county. I live next to a newly drilled well.I've heard from several sources that this is the highest producing well in the state.. It was drilled by Gulfport. It is called the Shugert 1 well.
I'd heard that it produced $75000 worth of dry & wet gas per day.
Shugert in Belmont also gets a vote, but looking at existing and planned pipelines as well as new permitting and recent results obviously Carroll Co is it. recent well results also double as PR bear in mind, so when Ohio production report comes out from state in Spring '13 more light to be shed on the subject.
You might want to check out Carroll Co.. There are several 1000+ BPD wells in production now and the rig count for this county is very high.
Dont know exactly why cheasapeake would rather drill in carroll co. when they could make much more $$$ in Harrison,Guernsey, or Belmont. I"m sure they have a reason. Maybe they got those leases cheap, or maybe because of the existing infrastructure there.Or maybe they just bought too much in the wrong place, too soon. It was a crapshoot 2 years ago. There's enough wells drilled in those 3 counties now that we know whats down there. a little further west, more oil, less gas. Alittle east, more gas, less oil.Same to the south. Some drillers may want the gas, some may be after the oil. Some both. The $$$ is in the oil,& wet gases right now.More wells,{in production} will definitely help tell the story, but if I wanted acreage to lease, I"d want to be some where between the Shugart,The Wagner,The Grohl., & the Chumney. THe latter is being fracked now,but expect it to be a good one. Dont know how Devon is on production reports.
The pad next to our property has 3 wells. All 3 are in production. The one in the unit we are in is listed on Chesapeakes web site. 120 day average is 1360 BOPD, 4.1 mmcfd, and it is on compression going to the area 330 seperation plant.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
