Still hope for NY NG development as Reed points to possible Congressional intervention

Cuomo might not get the last word on fracking in NY State:

Congressman Tom Reed may have opened a door

but not, obviously, until the new Congress is seated.

As long as the envirowackos are paid attention to and they have cowed a few a landowners who could actually form a local cartel to go ahead and explore , send some Citizens to western North Dakota and discover how private land is put to use by the descendants of the homesteaders.

There are theories galore about the manipulation of fossil fuel prices; here is one-

Be careful what you wish for. Allowing the feds any control over "fracking" could be a double edged sword. It might also allow the federal government to ban it when it so pleases.

Plus, it also violates states rights.

I fear that the issue in NY will not be resolved until landowners apply enough pressure on local and state legislators.

If the states that allow fracking and take the so called horrible risk to their environment then they should compensate for it. If NY was to have to pay say Oh, Pa or WV a environmental impact fee upon the gas they import in I bet NY would turn around real quick . That is unless the politicians haven't figured a way to take the land away from the landowners first.

Ya gotta believe they and their staffs are staying up late at night working hard to finagle a way..  This current crop of "Robin Hood"politicians exists in order to steal from us.

They view themselves as Robin Hoods.  To me, they're just plain hoods.

Frank,

The've got a way already don't they ?
Isn't it called 'Eminent Domain' ?
That involves paying landowners 'fair market value' doesn't it ?
Unless they're trying to take it / sieze it for nothing somehow ?
Why wouldn't that just be called 'theft in office' ?
Do you think that they think if they do it / legalize it that it's not theft ?

Yup.  ED is a scourge for sure.  Both kinds.

What do you think of a environmental fee being imposed on the export of our gas instead of a  severance tax upon us that does not get passed on by us?

Hey Billy, I like that.  If NYers or anyone else complains, we can accuse them of hating the environment and being in the pockets of Evil Big Oil.  Turn the tables on them, hee hee.

Jim  I am serious about that idea! I can not see the state robbing their own land owners while those out of state that are to good to muddy their back yards laugh !

I like it!
I will be suing New York Stat. Back in 2008
Property assessments went up due to speculation of drilling. They took away our abiliy to capitalize on our minerals and is time to hit the state in the pocket book. I can't see how the suit loses, they have caused financial harm and it should be fairly easy to show damages.

Love the idea to tax natural gas as it crosse the state line, we would see how many so called environmentalists capitulate and subsequently push to drill.

David,

What about a Class Action Suit?

It may give your effort more weight.
