Just curious...

I am in Liberty township and a few months ago got an offer to buy my royalties for 1500 to 1800 per acre, but they would do a more in-depth look if I was serious which "mite change the numbers" slightly....even tho I am not drilled or receiving any royalties ..talked to a landsman rite b4 I contacted them and he advised caution as there will be "significant" activity in my area in the "near future"....how about it, anybody else get an offer or hear anything or see any activity here in Tioga Co. ?

"Local official fears tariff could cost jobs"
Sharon Herald - 3/6/18

"The same tariff proposal that enticed Wheatland Tube’s parent company to celebrate could be catastrophic to its neighbor in Farrell, said Randy Seitz, president and chief executive officer of the development agency Penn-Northwest Development Corp.

“If you enact this tariff on the slab steel NLMK brings in and make it too expensive to produce coiled steel, it might put NLMK out of business,” Seitz said. “If this happens, we could put 750 employees out of work.” ..."

"Corporate leaders must reject Trump’s tariffs"
Charles Koch March 7 2018
"Charles Koch is chairman of the board and chief executive of Koch Industries."

"Without a doubt, those who can least afford it will be harmed the most. Having just helped consumers keep more of their money by passing tax reform, it makes little sense to take it away via higher costs. ...

One might assume that, as the head of Koch Industries — a large company involved in many industries, including steel — I would applaud such import tariffs because they would be to our immediate and financial benefit. But corporate leaders must reject this type of short-term thinking, and we have. If we are to have a system in which businesses can succeed long term, policies must benefit everyone, not just the few. ...

Tariffs will not add thousands of American jobs. Instead, the research shows that, while they preserve some jobs that would otherwise disappear, they reduce many other higher productivity jobs. ..."

I was seriously considering dropping this thread (unfollowing) because for one thing, it's extremely unwieldy. 110 pages? wow. But what pushed me over the top was the recent discussion. I know politics sometimes creeps into all things, and I deal with it. But to have a party or parties who are consistently snotty (and perhaps it's in the delivery, not the intent) and waste my time, is too much.

I'm here for info on Tioga County and our particular area. That's all.

Thanks...still debating. Not leaving yet.

I appreciate info shared, even extremely partisan info.

Somehow, in the past hour or so, about 5 pages of posts have disappeared.  ??""

If you have an objection to something I have postred, say so.

Deb,

I am in agreement with you about the political conversations that, at times, seem to take over. Not only this thread, but others here on GMS also. It is a sign of the times, or maybe my advanced age catching up with me (I have to get old, but I refuse to grow up!!). Issues are now either Left or Right, Anti or Pro....maybe they always have been, but I seem to recognize it more of late.

I hope you choose to remain here, as there is still much information to be shared with or without the underlying need for advancing ones' cause....many on this site are here to truly help others navigate this maze called NG, while keeping their politics private.

It is indeed a polarized world, and the sources for unbiased and useful information seem to shrink every day. Let's try to keep this one on course for all who have, and will, benefit from the knowledge obtained here.

I have gained much here. There is some pain involved at times, but overall, this site has provided a wealth of information, which has improved my financial position and personal satisfaction with 'my human condition'.

Best to all, now LIGHTEN UP and stay tuned!!

Thanks, Bullfrex. I appreciate the sentiment, and I agree with you. I'll stay for a while. It just was especially jarring as I'm coming back from vacation in a place where very different thoughts rule.

Hey Bullfrog, Your statement....."I have to get old , but I refuse to grow up!!) made my day!

Well I love it.  I tell nearly everyone, (" Don't never grow up").

I am 83 plus years old myself. My wife is 20 years younger. She has some serious health issues. In the thirty plus years we have been married, I have never had to visit a doctor for anything but an infection in my eye.
