The refugees died of neglect.
Right now is still a tough sell for parts of the county. Things are on the burner even if you don't see anything happening, but for some it will be a longer wait.
You never know, the way this play has gone so far ... anything can happen at any time.

rfs-email me at blondie0324@frontiernet.net..we've got 2 parcels of mineral rights on state game lands 57-Forkston township, Forkston wyoming county. 110 acres in this one parcel, all contiguous. another parcel of 40 acres contiguous about one mile down the road from the game land piece. all this acreage is right off state road 3001 which goes from the town of Forkston all the way to Lovelton. we don't own any of it, just the mineral rights. i called the game commission earlier this year-they said no problem if it was leased out for drilling. we tried all the gas companies-sent info packages including deed copies, etc. no response other than acknowleging the receipt of info-finally signed up with NEPALA in May to see if they could do anything-not much action on their part so far except for their contacts which was the same thing we did. that letter of intent runs out in Dec, so we are free to do stuff on our own then. NEPALA is a group in Wayne, andSusquehanna run by Mike and Joe Pokalsky. we want to be hooked up in Wyoming county with all the rest of the "refugees" but no one seems to know how to get us all together. I agree that things are quiet right now, and it's hard to stay calm! If the Noxen well is good production, that;s good for all the rest of us in Wyoming cty. Get back to me, rfs!-thanks-

I don't know about everyone else but I'm tired of being patient. If there is a group to join I'm ready. If there isn't a group, lets form one.

I'm not a local so it's makes dealing with this a bit difficult. The land has been in my wife's family for several generations. She keeps pushing me to get something going. I'm all for starting a new group. From the looks of it we have enough people on this discussion for a president, vice president and secretary. From what I understand, the gas companies have spent a lot of money buying the initial leases. Until wells start producing and they can transport the gas to market we probably won't get much response from them. But we can start getting people together and get prepared for when things do start happening.

It is a lot of work. I think whoever thought of this refugee group idea had second thoughts....can't blame them. Just ask Bill Wilson and his core group how much work it is!!!! That was one great deal they came out with from all their dedication. Haven't seen it matched or even close this year....too bad!

The biggest problem we ran into with the refugee group was that the lands were so far apart. At this point in time, it would be hard to sell a mix of small and large pieces all over the county (and out of it).

What I did in the meantime was to collect around 3000 acres that are adjoining mine. This is currently being shown to interested gas companies.

I would suggest doing the same thing. JUST adjoining acres that are essentially drill units, all within a couple miles. Then see who the major players are who have leases between the lands and give them the opportunity to make a deal. Use a good lease going in but be prepared to chop small things if needed. Offers will vary widely depending where you are are who you deal with. But with gas prices so low and leased lands so high it will be a tough sell anyway. Go for unusual terms instead, a three year lease, maybe annual payments, whatever options would make the deal work.

Thanks for the get-back. It's like pulling teeth to find out who has leased right there in my area in Forkston Township. Problem with just mineral rights, there is no land to deal with. The closest drilling is at Charmin-about 6 miles from our area. One well there has tremendous gas output-I think 5th highest in PA! I think that it's a matter of WHEN, not IF, that interest in the rest of Wyoming County will take off. We'll keep on plugging.

You are completely right about Wyoming County taking off. It will be a bit longer than we would like for various reasons, so we have to hang in there.
This is tough for older people and those of us who could really use money NOW rather than later. But find some way to keep the farm in the meantime.
