Just how will Emperor Cuomo stifle this permit application?
Tioga County Farm Bureau president and member of the Snyder Farm Group Kevin Frisbie announces Wednesday, July 8, the five-farm family group's intentions to install a natural gas well underneath a hayfield in the Town of Barton. Snyder Farm Group spokesman Kevin "Cub" Frisbie said an application was filed yesterday with the state Department of Environmental Conservation.

More than 60 people attended the press conference, which was held outside the Town of Barton municipal offices.
The Snyder group is a collection of five Tioga County farm families that have leased land for natural gas development. The group is seeking to develop a 53-acre natural gas well in Halsey Valley, N.Y., which is in the Town of Barton, Tioga County — about 25 miles south of Ithaca and 30 miles east of Elmira.
The well pad would occupy about 31/2 acres on Ernest "Bucky" Snyder's 150-acre hay and corn farm.
The group has applied for two drilling permits, Frisbie said.
The well would get drilled into the Utica Shale formation, about 9,500 feet underground, according to Frisbie. "Then we will do a horizontal turn and go into the Marcellus Shale at approximately 4,400 feet," he said.

two wells in ohio have been fracked using propane gel and mineral oil instead of water ....one by enervest and one by cheasepeake ....both in tusc county near Gilmore the nettles well and the parker well .....not as good of results as expected
but they said it is a new technology .....they also said they were not giving up on the idea yet ......the Utica formation holds a high clay content ........water swells the clay but propane gel and mineral oils do not effect the clay ....plus they use no water and the propane and mineral oils go back into the production stream for refining to be used over again
In other news, EV Energy Partners said production could begin in December on a much-watched Utica oil well in Tuscarawas County.
The company drilled the experimental well with eight other industry partners, Walker said.
"This is a test of what could be EnerVest and EVEP’s most valuable asset in the Utica," he said.
Getting oil from the Utica shale has proven to be difficult for drillers, to date.
That well near Uhrichsville is being hydraulically fractured or fracked with liquid butane and mineral oil. That should be completed in two weeks.
"We’re excited but cautious as we are bringing new technology to bear in this process," said company president and CEO Mark Houser. "We are in the middle of the completion operations and have completed five of the 20 (fracking) stages so far."
A full review of the well will be offered in the next few months, he said.
The oil window covers all or parts of Portage, Stark, Trumbull, Tuscarawas, Holmes, Coshocton, Guernsey, Muskingum, Perry, Morgan, Athens, Vinton and Hocking counties and the most western part of Carroll county.
In another development, EV Energy Partners said it is making progress in tapping into the crude oil window at a well near Uhrichsville in Tuscarawas County.
The Nettle 3H well was hydraulically fractured, or fracked, with butane and mineral oil in an effort to get the crude oil to flow.
The 5,400-foot laterals were fracked in 24 stages, and the well is in early flowback stages. The well was drilled with eight other industry partners.
Initial crude oil results are comparable to what Chesapeake Energy Corp. has seen from the Parker well in Tuscarawas County’s Perry Township, EV Energy Partners said.
No, J-O, if you go to the Tusca Co. site, there's 2 of them, the Nettle (Chesapeake) and the Parker (Enervest), both being GasFrac'd in Tuscarawas Co., according to the thread..

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
