Thank you for your reply. There is a lot of good information there. Actually, I have seen an Anadarko well site up close. It is at campsite K on Consol land in Nobel county just south of Cumberland. It was very clean but the gravel road was beefed up before they started. I had heard that it was a gusher but I have not heard any official results yet.
How about some more opinions? There is no wrong answer. LOL.
Our lease is with Anadarko, we have about 50 acres out of our 96 pooled into two different units in Lycoming and Clinton Counties in PA. Our property is surrounded on three sides with Anadarko pads and rigs. We have found all of their people that we have had dealings with to be friendly and reponsive to questions. All the well sites are maintained well, and the state forrest roads that they use for access to the drill sites (Hyner Road as well as Lebo Road) are in better shape now than they ever were. We dont live in the area year round so I cannot attest as to how their day to day opperations are traffic, noise etc. According to reports I have read on Marcellusgas.org they have had some violations on several pads but it looks like they were taken care of promptly. So all in all they seem to be a responsible company. Have not had any experience with any of the smaller drilling companies so I can't give any opinion on that side of the fence.
Does anyone know if Devon energy drills a very productive well? I remember hearing that they had a new fracking formula that works better in oily shale. I suspect there is a good reason that chesapeake sold devon shares in their more "oily" leaseholds.
The individual who (through many years of persistence and genius) developed the technology that resulted in horizontal drilling and multi-stage fracing was George Mitchell (the man behind Mitchell Energy). George Mitchell developed the technology needed to economically produce the Barnett Shale in Texas; that is the technology that now makes the Marcellus, Utica, Eagleford, Montney, Baken, etc all possible.
A few years back, Devon purchased (merged with) Mitchell Energy – acquiring their industry leading expertise.
Devon remains one of the top operators, with “Stat of the Art” expertise.
They now share that expertise with others; but remain amongst the best.
As a company, Devon also have an excellent industry reputation.
All IMHO,
JS
Weicome back Jack. I have yet to read one of your posts & not learn something.
I have been watching Anadarko for the past couple months, they have a good operation and know what they are doing. They are most active in Guernsey Noble and Mukingum County. So far they are the real deal. I would be happy with them on my acreage.

It's worth considering that no O&G operator actually drills their own wells anymore. Those days passed decades ago when the operators sold their rigs. Rather, the O&G companies hire drilling contractors and providers of other services such as drilling fluids (mud), downhole drilling tools and formation evaluation services (mud logging, electric logging), casing handling and makeup, cementing and ultimately completion services (fracking, downhole tools, valves, etc. From location prep to first production or well plugging, the well construction process is a complex, multidisciplinary endeavor.
Brian
that is not always the case brian, some companies do in fact own their own wells still.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
