David,
Just got a tip that blueracer is going through an old defunct short rail from Lowellville into PA. My source is very reliable.
Ron,
Would this be the railroad that runs along the Mahoning River in Lowelville?
Yes, but then it goes southeast at Lowellville.
One of Hilcorps pipelines is going to end up just north of Lisbon Ohio. Hilcorp ended up with 30,000 to 40,000 ac. of Leases off of Chesapeake because of the Brinker storage area.
A third of that still in litigation which slows any drilling in Brinker storage to a grinding halt.
Maybe so, and it seems like they have plenty of other places to drill for now.
In any case they are working fast at laying the pipeline right through the storage field between NE of Lisbon and route 7. There was a lot of progress this week.
Hilcorp is about to find out that there are people in Brinker willing to hold out for more than the 15%. We don't like it when others try to take advantage or bully us. It's not only the money but also the control of our land that we wish to preserve and protect. When this big dig is all over with, we still have to live here and pick up the pieces providing there are still pieces to pick up. Big oil will be long gone.
You can reply to me with that kind of statement, but I don't buy in.
When Chesapeake (or a subsidiary) obtained old flat rate leases in WVA and Kentucky over the past decade, those folks there got their flat rate $100/$200 annual gas royalties. There's evidence described in articles about two lawsuits to show it. Currently in PA, and now WVA, many old flat rate lease royalties are increased to 12.5% net or gross depending on the state through their minimum royalty laws. Hilcorp came here with a different tone, offering a standard royalty, then a better one (15% -all while Columbia also is supposed to be maintaing a royalty and a working interest as well), along with a laundry list of substantial property protections. All while there's no minimum royalty law in Ohio.
One would be hard pressed to find a better amendment nation wide that goes from such doom and gloom (like my old lease) to now the Brinker Amendment. Sounds quite classy to me. IMHO the Brinker Amendment is what happens when people from two entities treat each other with respect and regard.
After it was announced Hilcorp was coming to town to speak with interested parties in the Brinker community, many folks said to me in one way or another: " they're not gonna come here and offer you a royalty or anything else." THEY DID! But, again, you think what you want, but Hilcorp seems pretty classy to me.
I'm not looking for a perfect world, but am looking to make it better.
Good luck in your quest.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
