Anyone know why MWCD has not leased Tappan or Atwood yet. There are a lot of land owners around the lake that would like to know. Or any thoughts about this?

This is what I think. Back when the MWCD Tax was trying to get threw, a lot of people from Tappan lake area was at all the meetings trying to stop it. It cost MWCD a lot of time , money, and publicity to end the on'slaught of ,people speaking out about it. The pollution, no county tax revenue, water drainage problems, where's the money going and on and on and on. Do you really think they want those tree hugging, anti frackers , liberals on there back. There where 2 groups of people from Tappan that cost the MWCD 2 years of there time. So it will be a long time before that land is on the table. And besides now that they don't have the Atwood lodge to fund. How would they justify all that money they have in there coffers. I say you won't see Atwood or Tappan on the table for 10 years. So think about it. It would of already happened and its no secrete around MWCD back rooms.
That sounds highly unlikely. But then again Tappan is the drinking water for Cadiz.
Don't mess with the drinking water. Just leave the area unleased. Can you imagine the constant thunder of the anti crowd if they drilled too close to that lake? It's more trouble than it's worth.
as with the other lakes, i'm sure the state would add a no drilling clause........hell, i think they even say no drilling on adjacent lands (which i'm not sure how they can say that)
they are already drilling close to tappan lake........chk has several pads on the north side with laterals going only to the NW........any SE laterals will have to be under the lake..........eclipse has a couple pads directly upstream of the main feed of the lake........i dont think it has anything to do with twigpickers.
i think it is a lot of land in a core spot and the state don't need the $$ so they won't let it go on the cheap.....and the drillers might be waiting on the midstream so they can turn on the faucets and get some return$$ before they are willing/able to pay the large chunk and be able to drill enough to hold it before expiration.
i have heard from a chk landman that chk thinks they are going to get theTappan lease.
Atwood is too far to the west.
I don't think CHK is going to spend any more money in the UTICA north when all the big hits are now south of 70. They moved a lot of there rigs down there. I have a friend that leased to them 3 months ago in eastern Belmont , near Monroe border. I don't think there are any CHK Rigs in Harrison North of 70. So the lakes are on hold for awhile here.
the reason i see for the slow down is what processing plants are already at capacity and they are waiting to allow the infrastructure to mature so when they do complete the well they have some where to sell the product after marathon gets its line layed to canton the drilling will really get rolling .....for now the activity in other new areas is in an exploratory mod......... and any leases in the area that are held by production from old wells are locked in ......the same thing in stark tusc and eastern carroll counties most land is HBP.........AND THEY HAVE DONE SOME MAJOR EXPLORATION so now its time to look closer at other areas .........leesville plant and expansion at kensington and scio and hopedale will make a big differents as they grow in capacity and exporting out of the area by new pipelines and railroads upgrades ......them oil companies can take their good old time and learn from others mistakes and be able to remove more raw materials from a single pad .......from frack tech to well spacings and who knows what all knowledge is being gained on a daily bases also with all the other plays happening .....north dakota colorado several in texas and other areas the rigs are probably hard to come by with the new tech involved in drilling alotta older rigs have been moth balled or salvaged and new rigs need to be built ........its a bigger picture then alotta people are seeing ........2015 going to be a record braking year in eastern ohio oil and gas patch lol
DONT TELL MY MOM I AM WORKIN IN THE OIL PATCH ....SHE STILL THINKS I AM PLAYING A PIANO IN THE WHORE HOUSE
Frank - they are still drilling and spending far north of Tappan..........and are lining up units to drill next year in harrison (which is entirely north of 70).
best well in the state (from 2012 production data) is in harrison only a few miles from Tappan.
eclipse is drilling in Harrison....even mcclendon's first wells are in harrison.....several plants and many pipelines going in in Harrison.
Booger, Yes, and Chevron just drilled on rt 250 west of the lake. Any indications of the success/pressures etc. of that well?
Wonder if the dollar values in the Tappan Lake area for mineral rights will go up any this year? I'm guessing they will if those Chevron wells come in good.
we really won't know much about any wells until the state publishes the production data in april.....the chevron wells west of the lake, and eclipse wells (just east of the lake) will probably not have any 2013 production yet..........but there will be good info on 3 or 4 of the boyscout wells (one of which should have produced all year) as well as 3 addy wells, 2 henderson wells, 2 henderson south wells, all 6 rensi south wells and cnxhar well....though some of those may just have flowback numbers but with all the pipline activity in the area i would assume that most of them are tied into real production....they are all showing "producing"
i think the dollar values are already pretty high in the area.........not sure if they are much higher anywhere else.
Dont forget about ODNR quarterly production reports coming out in February 2014. We will get 4th quarter 2013 data before we get the first 3 quarters of 2013 in April. We will see newer well data before the April reports come out. Would be able to see Chevron results as well as others in February.
I hope you re right. soon the lease bonuses will rise and maybe the royaty % will too after the newest production #s come out. They can sweep it under the rug forever!

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
