With activity moving into Muskingum County and Licking County it is time for we the effected by the Utica Shale Play to be better informed. As I live on the Muskingum/Licking county border is the reason for the combination. The group will be free to separate if someone in Licking County wants to run a separate county.

Here you can post photos of what you might come across in the area. I'd kind of like to keep it limited to our area to prevent a overkill of photos. Jodi a member here is kind of a roving reporter,…Continue

I have not commited to anything at the current time, I believe in leasing the specific strata an oil company wants to develop only, I dont believe in giving the farm away if it can be prevented. I have to say that I liked Jim Milliston as a negotiator. I personally feel that there is power in numbers, but I also think this thing is about a year away.
Every day you can learn something on this site!
Jodi, to answer your question I have a tract of land that touches Licking County located in Jackson Twp Muskingum. Coshocton county is less than a half of mile north, not too far from the Sensibaugh. We really need the Enervest well in Dresden to show production as well as the Sensibaugh, then well be more in the game if this thing is what everybody is saying. We purchased the 102 acre tract for hunting whitetails. Then after hearing from a neighbor about the Utica a year ago , we realized we better start getting prepared for this if it ever happened. A couple thousand dollars later, after paying a lawyer out of Lancaster we have an official lease release recorded at the county.Were ready to go whenever this thing moves in our direction. Gotta thank everybody on this site for putting us in the position we are currently sitting in. We would have been suckered if I never found this site,still reading every day!
The pumper that pumps the well on my place said he heard the well up by Utica wasn't worth a dang. I doubt they would waste money in fracking it if so. It shall be very interesting indeed to see the results as they will also be a factor in what window is present. Will it have wet gas, Or just oil? The results might just wake up some companies!
Devon is also going to monitor the frack from several selected sites around the well with hydro-fractural/microseismic surveying.
Thank you for the update, good to see movement over there.
Any action over on Kirkpatrik Rd Jodi. Your our eyes over there!
@JODI,
Chpk only has 4,000 Acres for sale in Licking County??? Licking County covers about 440,000 acres. Shouldn't 1% be insignificant. I do not think CHPK will sell their acreage at fire-sale prices. CHPK is known for flipping and selling at a higher price than they paid. 4,000 acres really? If any driller claims that the Licking County land market is being flooded with acreage from CHPK is just full of it. Most driller won't even talk to a Landowners group with less than 10,000 unless the acreage is very highly contiguous. How can CHPK have 4,000 highly contiguous acres in Licking County? CHPK's acreage sale in Licking County is a non-issue.
@BPW,
"... companies are waiting to see what the CHK leases that are up for sale ..."
Did CHPK have a minority share of acreage in Licking & Muskingum counties? Even if CHPK sells cheaply, due to its own financial issues, that should not permanently depress the true value of the land.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
