Permalink Reply by Lynn Wigglesworth on November 9, 2011 at 1:16am I don't think I'd go that far. The only impact to my life (besides getting a big wad of money) is the increased truck traffic. My property sits on the main road to many, many wells, so there's a constant stream of gravel trucks, water trucks, sand trucks, and trucks with large machinery. I don't care much for that, but my property is still the same as it always was, and that's what I care about. Since I have a non-surface lease, that should never change.
Permalink Reply by Rambo on November 9, 2011 at 9:22am Wellsboro is not new york city in the middle of rush hour. How in our everyday life we are always in a hurry to go no where important. Is 5 minutes of your time too much to ask to get in and out of traffic safely. If 5 minutes of your time is that precious start shopping on QVC.

Permalink Reply by Gary Citro on November 10, 2011 at 12:14am Being from the NY Metro area (Long Island), I will say that I am getting a kick out of reading a thread where someone is planning in advance to avoid 2 minutes of traffic at one intersection! :-)
I do own a leased undeveloped lot in Wellsboro for future retirement. On our last visit, I left the Native Bagel with quarters in hand to feed the meter, only to find that the meter only took dimes and nickels. In NYC, you have to use a special machine for parking now, and a quarter usually buys you about 10 minutes of parking time -- so credit cards are accepted.
Such tactics and the traffic are only 2 of the reasons I'm heading for the hills.
I respect what you've got, and even leasing was a tough decision.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
