Thanks for the reply. I would definitely have someone look over the lease from Chesapeake. Terms seem good enough as far as money goes.

guess we blew it...in Sept, we were offered $4000 an acre and didnt take it. Everyone said we should get a min of $5,000 like everyone else did. Now it seems the gas companies are just not leasing anymore. Anyone have thoughts on this?
They will, just be patient, the gas is not going anywhere, and production is going to expand eitherway. Also as the price of Oil keeps climbing, watch teh increase in activity
Don't dispair, after ignoring a landsman and the seismic company for the better part of 2 years, I called the landsman in Aug and was told that Chesapeake was not making any offers unless your 'unit' was on the 18 month drill schedule, he said I should be hearing from him in a year or 18 months. Eight weeks later I got an offer for $5750 per and 20% in Sullivan Co. The papers are in the mail now.
What twp are you located in or where is your property?
Cherry Twp, 2 miles off Overton Road. Chesapeake just paved Overton Road at their expense and a pad is being built about 2 miles out of Dushore. I'm in a unit scheduled to be drilled in the next 18 months, I don't know if this particular pad is in my unit.

This was in Karthus from EXCO. We only own the mineral rights on the property.
the landman is from G&P Land.
A little off the subject but relevant to the amount of bonus etc.

"GO MARCELLUS' was a good name for this site to start with and it probably has to stick but ...

Marcellus is just one of the shales in this are that producers are seeking and in come cases is not the primary objective of the landmen. There is the Utica, the Ohio, the Onandaga, the ... and ....

And what makes it great is the same infrastructure will be available for all of the shales, maybe the same drilling pads. One does not hear about this with the Barnett shale area and others.

Maybe the site should have been named GO SHALES or GO ALL SHALES or ...
