i wonder if now from reading to march 28 article in trumbull tribune about alov and bp maybe getting a deal going for $3900 / acre it will slowdown the other leasing  companies offering considerably less?  maybe the oil companies are going to be in ashtabula sooner than we think.

how would one check nelas numbers? i thought by going to the nela meeting that no one was going to be signed until a year or so from now?

Check out NELA numbers.  They are bigger than you think. Thanks. Shell will end up being a player in this

For the fun of it, I just added up all of the Wishgard acreage in the 435 leases they've recorded so far in Ashtabula.  The total was approx. 12,800 acres, which really isn't very much considering the size of Ashtabula County (roughly 450,000 acres).  Wishgard's acreage is very scattered which limits its marketability.

From my vantage point, the county's big acreage is committing to Bob Rea of Buckeye Mineral (successor to ALOV) with the help of the folks from the Eastern Ashtabula Landowners Assoc.  The nice deal that ALOV just pulled off in Trumbull County really solidifies Bob's credentials...  and it makes the naysayer Wishgard look really bad.  My gut says Buckeye Mineral will probably be representing more than 50,000 acres in Ashtabula by the summer.  Patience is the key.

When I looked at the site I only looked at page one not knowing there were 3 pages..Wishgard appears to have been very very busy signing. I understand that they have a lot more signings on the line. They did their homework early. Now to see if they pay on time. If they do and hold onto the leases they will make a fortune. Very good astute business practices.

Question: To anyone in the KNOW about leasing and the Eastern Ashtabula county O &G status.

1) Does Wishgard have a certain timetable to sell these leases to a Chesapeake, Shell etc or can they just sit on them until big offers come in?

2) Has anyone heard anything about any big companies coming into Eastern Ashtabula yet?

3) With all the signed acreage and all the pending to be signed leases by Wishgard it would appear that they would be taking away some of the bargaining leverage of other leasing folks, NOLA, ALOV, www,washingtonpalawyer.com, landmen, numerous Law firms and the list goes on.

I would believe that the more acreage you have on the table the better position you in for bargaining.

I welcome any and all comments on the above questions.

I see the word Wishguard again. Has anyone you know or seen a check paid by Wishguard in Ashtabula  county? I keep hearing about the leases but they have been signing for well into early 2010. i just keep asking myself are they getting the 1600 plus they are offering? thanks!
