New offer from Chesapeak

My farm is located in SE allegheny county, Elizabeth Twp. The original offer from them was 250 per and that was about three months ago. They are negotiable on the royality, they started at 12.5% Just today they offered 500 per and will still negitiate the royality rate. We must sign by 8-14 and that will not happen as they want me to discuss same with all the neighbors. I am under the impression they only want to do Hydraulic and I/we would want a deep verticle also. Any thoughts are… Continue

Chesapeake Energy on track to be largest producer by end of '09

Chesapeake Energy has been intensifying its efforts in the Marcellus shale and is poised to take over the lead in production of natural gas coming from it. In an operations update issued at the end of the first half of '09 the company hi-lighted a couple of reasons that probably help explain why so many companies are shifting their exploration activities to the Marcellus. Assuming $7 gas and $70 oil (today's… Continue

ABC Look at Hydraulic Fracturing

In a special report on hydraulic fracturing, in the July 6th edition of the Oil and Gas Journal, the authors write that, “the need for communication of accurate information to the public, lawmakers, and regulators is imperative on various drilling-related topics, including hydraulic fracturing, water use and supply, and surface use. [Especially given the] active development of massive US natural gas shale plays in regions of the country….”… Continue

Congress Inches Forward Toward Regulating Hydraulic Fracturing

FEEL FREE TO LISTEN TO THE HEARING.

We need to “move forward” with a working group in order to discover the best drilling practices for the safe extraction of shale gas, Jim Costa (D-CA), Chair of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources said at a June 4th oversight hearing on unconventional fuels and the potential of shale gas.

The hearing didn’t really resemble its title. Or… Continue

Obama: "We have a lot to learn from Brazil" - Ok then, let's learn it.

See video - at least the first minute.

I definitely agree. Let's follow Brazil's 2 prong energy policy. Sounds good to me.

- Neither the Brazilian government nor state-run Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) is willing to stop producing oil and natural gas or to decrease output. Petrobras produces 1.9 million b/d of oil,… Continue
