Here's an interesting article regarding the value of O&G companies and their shale gas assets. Note that Marathon paid $21,000 per acre and the EOG ceo feels his areage is more valuable. We're talking the Eagle Ford Play, which the Chesapeake said the Ohio Utica Play was similar to/or better than. Interesting reading.

I'm only posting this article here due to the long link and lack of new info, but it is worth the read.

Randy, Ohio County, WV is across the Ohio River from Belmont County, OH.

AT, I saw the reference to Belmont  and the Valley and didn't realize there was a county in WV named Ohio. My apologies for the error. Is it located along the river?

Randy,  The article says Chevron is entering Ohio County, WV (Tridelphina, WV and West Libery College area in WV) and no mention of them in any Ohio county at this point.

Belmont is really getting hot, with Chevron joining Hess and Exxon. Why no action in Harrison? Could it be that Chesapeake and Gulf Port have it all locked up?

Good luck with the coal issues, alot of money, but not a very good lease, hopefully you all do well, wish you luck in getting rigs in place,as we all know it is about the lease language and the royalities. The bonus monies r just that[a bonus].

Randy, Too bad the 19% royalty was a net royalty and the pooling clause was not contiguous acreage. The lease left a LOT to be desired.

The first article is Chesapeake CEO's defense of the industry - not much new there. The second article about the Hess lease acquisitions puts dollar figures to the acreage, and should give landowners a better feel for the value of their mineral rights.
