let's hope CNX now knows the difference between coal and gas rights. I remember reading an article awhile back when Consol owned their own gas division (CXG) and a family had to fight them in court for their gas rights. The property owners won but it was a long battle. Many local property owners in our Ohio Counties still have consol owning coal rights. They abandoned this area years ago but looks like they are making a strong come back.

$593,000,000 and 200,000 acres at a 50% interest means Hess paid $2965/acre for their half interest. It also means Consol values the acreage at double that or $5930/acre.
