Comment by AT on June 12, 2012 at 4:16pm Hunter, That site is between Rose Valley Road and the Pine Valley Sportsman Club at the top of the hill on the left side near the old dirt road (cow path) that takes you over to the tower and Beech Springs Cemetary.
Comment by Hunter on June 12, 2012 at 8:15am The DNR has updated the permit/drilling activity reports for the week. We finally have a Chesapeake rig drilling in the county and Gulfport is drilling the Ryser well. New permits for Gulfport, Hess, and CHK. Things are picking up. See the link...

I leased with Chesapeake this time around. Got a bit more than $750/acre (put a smiley face here!) and a lot better contract than Oxford's.
Comment by Poison Ivy on June 7, 2012 at 5:09am Good for you, Sue! Smart thinking. After that experience, did you sign up with anyone else? Just curious.
Oxford offered me $750/acre 5 years ago and, when I hired an attorney to review the contract, he made changes that Oxford didn't like and I never heard from them again. Best $125 I ever spent!!
Comment by Bill DeVore on June 7, 2012 at 12:11am Henderson Rd. is off SR646 just up from Tappan lake. Chesapeake is drilling (rig 259) two there and a pad going in a stones throw away on 646 and Crawl rd.
Comment by Poison Ivy on June 6, 2012 at 12:26pm Rob- there are a few holdouts that I know of. But a lot of Harrison County isalready leased by Oxford Mining Co. These are the 5$ per acre leases that landowners signed 4-6 yrs ago. A lot of them are due to expire this yr and next. Those landowners are probably waiting to see if Oxford is going to let them expire, or renew them. If they expire, then the landowner will be able to sign with another oil& gas company. THEN we will probably see some activity in Harrison County.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
