Does Ohio have eminent domain for gas pipelines?
There was about 40 employees of Mark West O&G in Cadiz recently. These were the guys that were doing the survey work (as I previously mentioned) near RT519, RT22 and Jockey Hollow, all West of Cadiz. Rumor has it they ARE doing survey work for another pipeline to be built. Presumedly following Rt22 from the West and into the Industrial Park/Airport area? Anyone have a plot plan or news of this new pipeline? They have eminent domain, I'd hate to see them come bulldozing thru our property.
Some news on the Harrison Hub in North Twp, along with other stories.

Here's a fairly good summary of the Utica Play from first quarter conference calls. See the link...

Dan, My CHK lease doesn't require them to ask for my permission to assign. I wanted to know if my lease was assigned to Total in the JV agreement, assigned to CHK Utica, or assigned to Gulfport, which is putting their units together and drilling in my area. As Philip states below, I had read about the mass assignments by CHK in other counties. I'll pin my situation down in the near future and post what I find out.

It looks like CHK has assigned 89% of their Guernsey leases to Total. http://gomarcellusshale.com/group/guernseycounty/forum/topics/chesa...
It might be the JV agreement http://www.cleveland.com/shalegas/index.ssf/2012/01/chesapeake_ener...
Or CHK is selling more of their leases to raise cash.
Randy, don't you have an assignment clause in your lease that says they can't assign your lease in whole or part without your written consent? In other words you should know without having to find it in the courthouse? Or have you heard that assignments are being done without permission?
I had read that CHK 90% assigned a bunch of Columbiana County leases to Total, but heard nothing about Harrison. How did you find that out?
One last bit of info from my field trip today. I went by the courthouse today to check on my lease, and see if it had been assigned to anyone. Chk assigned about 190 pages of leases to Total in Harrison Co on May 4, 2012. I got through about 140 pages on the computer before they were closing, and didn't find my lease in those. I'll try to dig a little deeper next week if I find time.

I am not concerned about Chesapeake's financial problems. They have assets: our land. Our mineral rights are either valuable or they're not and the viability of the company that owns them right now are not any concern to me. If the mineral rights are valuable and Chesapeake can't do anything with them, they'll be sold to someone who CAN make money off them. I'm just glad we got our bonus before the you-know-what hit the fan.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
