Thanks Dan, My only motivation is to help provide educational information to the landowners, so they can make informed decisions.

More news that I shared on the Ohio Landowners page: PDC, Petroleum Development Company out of Denver Co. has entered the Ohio Utica Play with the purchase of 30,000 acres in the wet zone (oil). They state that they want to increase their holdings significantly.

Al, Thanks. Everyone should look at the Investor presentation regarding this JV. There is an excellent map showing the wet zone (Harrison is in the heart of the Play) and showing Consols' holdings.

Huge news this AM - Consol sells half of their Ohio Utica Shale interest to Hess Oil in a 50/50 joint venture fo $6,000 per acre Hess wil operate in Harrison Co and the wet gas zone counties. Consols' presentation is at the link below, if it will take.   Randy

Here is a link to an article written by a prominent oil & gas attorney about lease clauses often found in leases offered  in the Utica and Marcellus Shale plays. Interesting reading and reinforces the fact that you MUST have a good landowner-friendly lease that you FULLY understand.

Just came accross an excellent article on the Main-Forum titled "Held by Production" posted by Philip Brutz. I think I've seen the article before, but it explains very clearly HBP and how the O&G companies think. Also explains why you don't want these 1280 acre unitization clauses & why they only drill one well at a time.
