Drove by that location today. It does look like a shopping mall going in! The earth-moving operation is actually happening on the west side of Township Road 187 and they also have just as large an area with survey stakes in the field on the east side of Township Road 187! All can be seen at the intersection of Upper Clearfork Road and Township Road 187.

Dan, what you are talking about has nothing to do with oil and gas, as I also first thought too, they are building a wetlands reserve. Yes, that's right.

There's some big earth-moving operation happening on the north side of Upper Clearfork Road just east of Bell Road.  By the size and number of trucks, pans, and excavators, it seems they are either putting in a shopping mall or a well-site, definitely more than just a farm pond.  However there is no drilling permit issued for anything there.  Does anyone know what is going on there?

Scott, things are moving here in Harrison County, around November there will be some drilling activity, 2-3 wells to wind the year out. Then, in March things will pick up again and not slow down. The Sportsman's Club is still trying to keep chk from drilling on them, due to chk seems to think that they can do whatever they want with no regard to the landowner's rights. If they would just treat people right and show a little respect, it would go a long way in building public attitudes, but just doesn't seem to be their thing. Behind the scenes there is alot of leasing still happening here in Harrison County, it is way far from being over.

What is going on in Harrison County ?  Seems like some of the neighboring countys are real active and we are not. I am just looking for some insight. Is it because there is still a lot of land held up by the Oxford leases ? What have you heard ? What is happening with the Sportsmans Club well ?

Kristie, Thanks. I try to post information that broadens the understanding of the landowner, and is educational in nature. As a group, I think we have all learned and shared alot of information on this site. Good luck...

I forgot to add - the companies going belly-up right now are the "green ones" touting wind, solar, etc., you know, the ones that are supposed to be the "wave of the future."

Sorry for being a skeptic but I don't put a lot of faith in the liberal NY Times.  They have led the NATION astray on so many issues that there is no way they should be trusted as a valid news source.  They are the ones wanting us to "go green" with wind, solar, hamster power, etc. and they will do everything they can to discourage any fossil fuel investment and production.  Our President has said he plans to shut down the coal industry and has already essentially shut down the oil drilling industry.  I'd guess the gas industry is next.  If you want to follow the money, I wouldn't start with information from the NY Times.

Randall:

Thanks for sharing all the great articles. They definitely give us all insight on what is happening behind the scenes. My thoughts have always been just follow the big money and you can read between the lines. I think this article pulls things into perspective.
