Randy, Where is the Boy Scout well in Harrison Co.? Is it out near the old Piedmont Boy Scout camp off Rt 22?
Looks like a slow Sunday morning. If you look at the Utica Play map on the Gulfport Energy slide presentation, you'll see that they have permitted their first 5 wells. According to their conference call they will drill the Wagner #1 first (StockTwp), followed by the Brushey Creek well in Guernsey Co. (by Antrim on 22) and then the Boy Scout well third (Harrison Co), with the last two to be drilled in Belmont. They plan to have two rigs working by April, and plan to spud 20 wells in 2012.

An oil refinery facility with a possible investment of at least $500 million is being planned near Newport, with preliminary construction expected to start early this summer.
Mayor Terry Culbertson told Uhrichsville City Council on Thursday that El Paso Corp. is purchasing more than 200 acres off Blizzard Ridge Road, about 1 mile southwest of Newport.
El Paso is an industry leader in transporting natural gas. The company would construct a refinery that would process the wet gas obtained from drilling in the Utica or Marcellus shale deposits in the Tuscarawas Valley region. The procedure would separate the butane, propane, methane and other materials from the dry natural gas.
“They’re looking to be in operation by 2013,” Culbertson said. “We need jobs. I’m excited any time an industry locates in this area.”
Culbertson said that there will be about 20 to 30 full-time jobs once the facility goes into operation.
“They didn’t say how many construction jobs will be involved, other than to say ‘a lot,’ ” he added. “They’re going to try to hire as many local residents as possible for what they need.”
He said El Paso had purchased the former Tennessee Gas, which owned several pipelines in the Tuscarawas Valley region.
El Paso also plans to seek extension of railroad service to the facility site. There also is the potential to build two more refinery facilities there, Culbertson said he was told.
City Service Director Eric Edwards said that the company said it selected the site from possible locations within a range of about 120 miles. The relatively nearby access to state Routes 36 and 250, as well as Interstate 77, was attractive.
Officials said the company also plans to bear the cost of upgrading infrastructure to the site. Culbertson said trucks would exit Route 36 onto Trenton Avenue Extension and head southbound through Uhrichsville and onto
Newport Road to Blizzard Ridge Road.
The company is to notify the city before it begins drilling core samples to establish what needs to be done to improve roads to the site.
Culbertson said the site isn’t in the city limits and can’t be annexed. However, the city should benefit from income tax collected from residents who work at the facility.
“Everything is a plus,” the mayor said. “The workers will have to have housing, and they’ll shop locally. So, there’ll be benefits across the board.”
He said the company chose to locate in Ohio because of the state’s “welcome with open arms approach,” especially compared to restrictions it faced in Pennsylvania.
“Uhrichsville will do whatever we can do to help, if feasible,” Culbertson said.
The city, like many other governmental entities, is experiencing a budget crunch as state and federal revenue sources are reduced.
Culbertson said the company plans to talk to the Twin City Water Board about extending service to the site.

got a letter yesterday from energy deep resources out of pelham alabama wanted to purchase half of my mineral rights for $2750 an acre.only problem they said my land in carrol co.maybe because i signed with a group that is in carrol co?
Marcus, if you are looking for a royalty buyer, I would suggest that you go to the main page of GMS. About two thirds of the way down the left column you will discover several ads from different royalty buyers. Since they are advertising on GMS, I would hope that they are all legitimate.
Yes Bill, many folks that I talk to are receiving these letters. From my perspective, there would be only one reason to sell one's royalty interest -- that being an immediate need for cash. I believe strongly that holding a royalty interest in the wet gas area of Harrison County is better than investing in the stock market!
Is anyone else seeing these guys from Texas sending letters wanting to lease all or part of our royalties for 1250.00 per acre for the remainder of the lease? Thats if its paying royalties yet or not.
pipeline lease time, dollar a foot times the diameter of pipe x the # of lines..rule of thumb.
JRM groups have been very successful with the ROW,easements, land owner rights.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
