I knew something was flowing I see the flare burning almost all the time at central processing facility just up the hill
John, I talked to the property owner of the McGhee wells and he told me that the three wells that they are plugging are the pilot holes. There are four wells under production at this time as they only drilled four Horz. wells. DEP regs require them to plug all wells after a certain time period if they are not completed. They can go back at any time and drill the plugs out and finish drilling the wells if their permit has not expired.
John, I think all the McGhee wells were not in the Utica but were drilled in the two layers of shale below the Utica. The McGhee wells also were drilled west to east whereas all Utica wells seem to run northwest to southeast. Why they drilled into the other shale when they knew the Utica was a productive shale is anybody's guess but my guess is they had to drill to find out what was there. Would they need to drill three wells to determine if the shale was productive?
on a more positive note. Shenango Weiser had 2 wells spudded this week and Lackawannock Wengerd had 4 new wells approved.
Found an interesting website that gives frequent email updates on new permits/activity. Called SkyTruth. Just a note when subscribing (free) to "zoom" into the area you are interested in otherwise you'll get everything nationwide.
didn't see it a few days ago I think that's the rig at zigo

But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
