I meant to write "sse of Camp Perry" in my post below and I believe Sam meant to say western Venango county regarding the drilling of a several test wells. Cold air must be affecting our sense of direction. lol
What does this mean? My guess (no information to back it up) is that Halcon has no intention of ever building this pipeline. By getting the permits to build the pipeline (which permits are likely assignable) Halcon will enormously enhance its ability to sell off its acreage in north-eastern Mercer County and western Venango County. Halcon's stock is in the toilet and it debt-load is overwhelming, especially with currently depressed crude oil prices. I would expect that these permits presage the sale of Halcon's "goat pasture", to an O&G company who has both the desire and the financial ability to develop these assets. The Allam well near Polk is a decent well but not a great well. Because there were many technical problems in developing the well, and because fracking techniques have improved since that well was drilled, I suspect that the Allam test results may underestimate the the area's geology and its true potential production. I can hardly wait to see who is going to be the buyer. Whoever it is, I would think they would probably drill at least a half a dozen test wells, with at least several in eastern Venango County. All pure speculation on my part. It will be interesting to see what really happens.
@ deer spotter - Yes, Halcon purchased property the TGP pipeline runs through formerly part of the James Albaugh property on Laver road. About 2 miles ssw of Camp Perry as the crow flies. 13.951 acres and right across RT 19 from the Colpetzer farm that JohnL referred to below.
Is Halcon"s pipeline in the Camp Perry area where NFG has an interconnect with the TGP? 16 inch is a lot of pipeline to feed one well. More activity coming? Seneca has a large amount of acreage in the area and had very good results from the test well drilled in the Polk area. However for the next several years they have committed to the Claremont area in McKean and Elk Co. Infrastructure is already in place in that area. This could be a game changer.
Apparently the well they drilled in Polk is worthy of a pipeline. They did get the row they needed according to the recorder of deeds. I hope they follow through with this project. It will pass through a lot of Hilcorp territory. In fact some of the people who are leased with Hilcorp have given Halcon the pipeline right of way. I wonder if they expect to make money from other companies using it! It will pass very close to me!
Anybody else see the Herald article about Halcon's proposed Mercer to Venango pipeline in today's paper? I knew they had secured the ROW, but thought it was dead in the water like the wells they drilled. Apparently not. I think this is very good news for Mercer and Venango counties.
Driving home tonight I could see the sky lit up by the beautiful lights of the Chevron well derrick on Hosack road near Jackson Center, PA. What a sight! I can't wait for the big flame!

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
