The carlyle group saved the old sunoco refinery in philadelphia and built a power plant in tripoli…they have global investors and are global asset managers..

Looks like everyone wants a piece of Mercer County. The fun might just be starting!

Jim T;  Good detective work. I was going to work the phones and see what I could find out but you did a great job

Good news as this will help Hilcorp finance all these pads and wells they have been permitting. Thought that someone had to be backing such a rapid build out.

Good for the area, too, as I am sure that Carlyle did their due diligence before signing the check.  Means they are confident in the future production in our area. All good news.

PS tried to cut and paste twice but it didn't work, sorry about the other two that didn't go through.

When Hilcorp bought BP in Alaska for a Billion and half I wondered what might transpose in our part of the world. Thanks guys.

Thanks all!  Great info!  I have a rather high level contact/friend at The Herald and they have promised to look into the various trasactions and the whys and what-fors.  Hopefull they will contact Hilcorp and Carlyle both for comment!

Selling a 20% interest sounds like a cash generating deal.  Could actually end up being a good thing after all!

Jim- sounds like a good thing for Mercer County!  I think this explains why we aren't seeing individual lease transfers??  More money means more wells.

JR- is there any chance that Carlyle either bought into or acquired Hilcorp outright? There were 2 general agreements between Hilcorp and Carlyle that were also listed on the Recorders website. Any idea what was in those agreements?

Four counties? Lawrence, mercer and who else.....?

Four counties were involved in the deal. Again, I don't know specifics yet, but it appears that Hilcorp has sold the bulk of their leases to Carlyle who tend to represent foreign investment groups.
