A golfing buddy of mine is working on verifying leases for Shell at the Mercer County courthouse He told me to keep it under my hat. I did for two weeks now but in light of all the Shell activity I am letting the cat out of the bag. Shell is getting ready for action in my opinion.
The branch manager of my bank told me that he was told by CX-Energy in a letter that the Grove city area was the least desireable.
New Lebanon Community Church, 4166 Mercer St. Sandy Lake, PA.. Event starts at 10:00 am Monday Dec 10th and goes through 8:00pm Dec 11th Tuesday evening. Call (607) 727-1474 to schedule an appt but it is not required. Shells agents will be there. They are expecting a large turnout. This is a lease signing event according to my letter. Anyone signed with Halcon in that area would be advised to attend. I don't think Halcon is going to pay very many people.
Elnathan: Could you enlighten us about the letter from Shell and an upcoming meeting in New Lebanon? My property is in Venango County but reasonably close to the Mercer County line. As you know, Vista had a meeting several months ago in New Lebanon announcing a joint venture with Shell wherein Vista's rights to the "deep gas" in Mercer County were conveyed to Shell. Vista obtained 3 permits to drill in Mercer County. I believe there were only 19 permits for 2012 issued todate for Mercer County. I believe 12 of these were for horizontal or so-called Shale Gas wells. Halcon, Shell, Chevron and Hilcorp were the companies involved. In Venango County there have been 300 permits either issued or pending but only 8-10 are for horizontal wells. Of the remainder Vista has a total of 131 permits issued or pending.Of that 131, Vista has over 60 permits pending and these were all applied for after November 1, 2012. Obviously Vista must control a lot of acreage in Venango County. Is a Vista / Shell joint venture in the works for Venango County similar to the one announced several months ago in New Lebanon? I invite you or any other readers to offer any relevant knowledge or speculations on what any of this means. In Mercer County Vista got $2000 / acre from Shell for the rights to the deep gas. Whether Vista also got a percentage over-ride on the deep gas is unknown. It is quite possible since Vista's leases were rather standard and paid the landowners only 12.5% royalties.( I always enjoy your posts. Congratulations on your lease with Hilcorp. Have a good holiday season and keep posting! )
Samuel,
See Elnathans last post. He stated that he had just received a letter about such a meeting.
Petej: What letter and what Shell meeting in New Lebanon are you talking about? Is there some new meeting or letter? I remember there was a meeting in late September in New Lebanon at which Vista announced a joint venture with Shell in Mercer County. Is there something new going on with Shell in Mercer or Venango Counties? Your query to Elnathan has me confused!
......in the southeast corner of Mercer County. If they were going to be paid, I believe I would know about it. I will contact them this evening. It would be wonderful if this information of yours were true. If it were true, it seems to me CX and M&P would know about it first. What we do not need is more disappointed landowners relying on "information" like what you have posted. ( I hit the wrong key which is why my just previous post ends in the middle of a sentence.)
Michael: Who is the CX rep who said everyone in Mercer County would be paid by Halcon, not just the group 1 people. You need to identify your friend and the also the person from CX. I frankly think the information is false. I have family who have property in group 2 in the south
I haven't heard about Halcon expanding the payout area....and I am sure I would have heard by now. I think that your friend misunderstood as the rest of the people in the Group One are to be paid soon.
petej,
Dont get me wrong...I questioned this notion as well. Could the cx employee have been telling my friend more inaccurate information?, yes...Could my friend have misinterpreted what they said, yes...I just thought I would see if anyone has heard a similar rumor.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
