VERY BAD NEWS. Halcon stockdown over 20% today and closed at $2.27. A number of other small E&P companies also had big losses. Crude Oil prices under $70 are remaining low because Saudis are keeping production up to squeeze smaller US companies. Saudis production costs are lowest in the world and supposedly they break even at $40 / barrel. The strategy is to force bankruptcy of many US E&P companies with much higher break-even costs. When these competitors no longer exist, the US production numbers will decrease as will total world supply,at which point crude prices will rebound. See Yahoo Finance for news and the names of other small US E&P companies that saw drastic declines in their share prices today.

Bob Rock:  Thanks for the  link, It is the correct link to the article I found in The State Journal out of Charleston, West Virginia. I was rather surprised to find the article   in a West Virginia publication. There may have been similar stories in  one or more Pennsylvania papers, but I did not see any. I know it is not a done deal, but I thought the article was very positive.

More potential good news for the area! I found  an article yesterday from The State Journal out of Charleston, West Virginia dated November 20, 2014, and updated November 22, 2014 entitled "Shell meets with Pennsylvanians about cracker plant." I will not attempt to summarize the article, but its content and tone is highly suggestive that the plant is going to be built. I would post a link to the article but am so computer illiterate that I will ask JR Ewing or somebody else to do that.

What I don't get they mention sugar grove township, the map of the pipline does not come close to sugar grove.

Sorry Sam & all. I try not to be negative, but I think all of us posting in here have had our hopes raised then dashed so many times that we've all become a little numb and skeptical when it comes to potential good news. Halcon in particular has had a nasty habit of hoodwinking people in Mercer and Venango counties since this play began. I don't think anyone reading this would disagree. Never the less, I am hoping for the best for all of us.

More good news for the area. From a reliable source. Chevron well on Hosack Rd: Test well must have been good. Was fracked and quickley burned off. Now drilling more wells from that platform. They wouldn't be drilling more wells if the results were not good from the test well. Fingers crossed!

JR Ewing: After being the first to post some really good news, your last several posts have been  uncharacteristically negative. Have a cold beer, put your feet up, chill out, and have faith that the good times are about to roll.

Much larger projects have been quashed by eco-freaks, owls and salamanders. You can't discount them.
