Just read this article attached to another post under General Shale Discussions.

Looks like EnerVest is holding on to it's 22,000 acres of leaseholds for now with the option to swap or sell later still on the table.

That to me translates into more delays.

I'm not sure if this is what your talking about but I have seen people post something then delete it. If you look below at Ronarounds comment it looks to me like something has been deleted.

Why does this Ashtabula County site indicate recent activity but does not always allow access / viewing what the activity is / was ?

Happens regularly.

What gives ?

I do not believe Chicago Title will clear your leases or file anything for you.From personal knowledge they just pull copies of all the O&G leases for your property and then give you their Opinion plus a stack of the copied leases. IA lot of work and money for a letter.

Go to an Attorney who knows what they are doing. They can look up ODNR info and have there staffeys do any leg work to proceed with the necessary legal paperwork to clear your lease if they can. It is a time consuming process waiting for the responses and filings needed to clear your property correctly.

I did mine at the first part of the year and now the leases were released by Enervest. They bought out approximiately 60+ pages of leases in 2011 and I wanted to make sure that when and if I do sign an O&G lease that I own the rights. I would rather get a check on the 89th day rather than a defect letter.

Chicago Title in Jefferson does lease searches for a fee.  There is also a local gas/oil lease attorney that can help with the removal of old leases,  affidavit of noncompliance, etc.

In Ashtabula all the books are freely available but the staff is pretty busy. They will help. You need to have just some basic info to begin.

The recorders office and search under leases, most office are very helpful.
