NARO Conference

The National Association of Royalty Owners (NARO) Appalachia chapter will be conducting an educational seminar for oil and gas mineral/royalty owners. The seminar will provide valuable information that every mineral and royalty owner should know about their rights, leasing, and mineral management for Eastern Ohio.  Experienced attorneys and CPAs (Certified Public Accountants) from currently producing areas will be on hand as well as a National representative from NARO.  The primary purpose of NARO is to educate, serving as a national information clearinghouse for, not only our membership, but also state, local, and federal government bodies and the general public.

NARO also serves, not only as a "watchdog" in State Capitols and the US Congress, but when deemed necessary, brings to the spotlight of public scrutiny and debate, critical royalty owner issues and concerns that might, otherwise, be ignored or concealed. The mission of NARO is to encourage and promote exploration and production of minerals in the United States while preserving, protecting.  advancing and representing the interests and rights of mineral and royalty owners through education, advocacy and assistance to our members, to NARO chapter organizations, to government bodies and to the public.

Has anyone out there heard anything from Oxford Oil ? I know they came through my area a few years ago leasing a bunch of property including mine. I'm just wondering if anyone has heard if they are planning on drilling anywhere or if they are out of the picture ?

We signed with Matt Pasquinelli, who represents Fossil Creek Energy on December 30th. We've already have our check. I believe we're the only landowners in our area who actually have received $1500 per acre. I have no idea what leases are going for in Harrison County, but we were very pleased with this amount and how quickly it came through for us.

Richard, I know Fossil Creek and Wellington are actively working the area still.  According to Wishgard, they have closed there books on the current group of about 45000+ acres that they have put together, and are now trying to find someone to sell those leases to, so they may not be trying to sign any new leases until they would decide to open up another group.  Kenyon of course is still active, signing directly for Chesapeake.  Scott has been approached by a company named Innova.  And just fyi, I have spoken with Range (currently in Jefferson) and Marquette (currently in Belmont) and neither has any immediate plans to come into Harrison County.

Anyone heard from Brad Johnson (Fossil Creek), Wellington Resources or Wishgard lately?

Yes,  I believe after talking with him earlier that he just arrived in our county a day ago or so. He came knocking on the door yesterday.  I asked what his offer was and he did not know as of yet because he just arrived.  He is supposed to let me know in a few days.  He did say that his company Innova does install the deep horizontal wells and just finished several wells this past summer in a Michigan shale play.  He advised me to contact the Michigan department of environmental quality to validate what he was saying.  I am still waiting to hear back from them but I did read an article about them and the drilling they had performed in Michigan.  I'm not used to these land guys telling me where to research the people they represent, so that was refreshing.  Maybe there is another legitiment drilling company showing up here in town ?

I have not.  Is he trying to sign landowners in our county?

Did anyone go to the Farm Bureau-hosted landowner meeting last night in New Philly?   It was a Harrison/Tuscarawus/Carroll county meeting that was run by Dale Arnold who works in the Ohio Farm Bureau office, where he focuses on energy resourse issues.  They were to discuss gas leasing from all angles as it concerns the landowner: from lease clauses to dealing with landmen to forming landowner groups. I was planning to go last week when it was originally scheduled, but it was postponed due to weather, and then I had a conflict last night that kept me away.  I wonder if there is a recording of it that will be made available?
