Comment by Peter Schueler on October 28, 2011 at 5:52am Scott, The Teppco line runs through my property and I have been contacted by an Enterprise agent regarding permission to do surveying. It's called the Marcellus Project-Segment 1. I spoke with Ron Mimna but he was not willing to provide any details about the line nor whether Enterprise would have a right of eminent domain.
I've been giving some thought to how a pipeline ROW should compensate the landowner. It seems the traditional way is to offer a one-time payment for the installation. It would seem that since these lines are in continuous use over many years with provisions for periodic inspection and maintenance, that there should be some annual rental to the landowner. For instance, communication towers offer continuous rentals to the land owners, in some cases very substantial.
If this pipeline project goes forward I recommend we form a landowners group to unite in negotiating a favorable common lease with adequate compensation and landowner protections.

Comment by Josh on October 28, 2011 at 4:56am Scott,
I have heard same thing in my area, and they are really trying to gain permission to survey. I wonder if they will pay landowners per foot or if the existing easment has language which would give them means to expand pipeline without paying them?
Comment by scott jackovitch on October 28, 2011 at 4:14am "I'm always a little apprehensive about painting this as a big problem around the county, because it just isn't," McLinko said. "A lot of these people are really well-behaved. ... To a large degree, is it out control or a major issue? Absolutely not."
Leave it to the liberal media to try to hype something up to make you worry about your good fortune.

This article was on Yahoo money headlines today. I guess with the good comes the bad. We'll see soon enough.
Guess I need to improve my spelling. Appalachian.......lol

Sue, I did see that article. But I don't see the Dems being able to do anything in Ohio. This state needs the jobs and development that the shale gas industry will bring. Here is a link to the current drilling rigs in the state of Ohio. If the site opens to the national page, put Ohio in the state column, and appallatian basin in the basin column and click refresh. They update this site every Fri in the afternoon.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
