Has anyone who has been contacted about a pipeline ROW had it suggested to them that the gas/oil company will be much more likely to drill, i.e., send royalties their way, if they allowed the pipeline to go through said property? Kind of like "play ball with us or we'll go around you and then you'll be out in the cold all alone?" I am so tired of games.

The national and world news will be focusing on the production reports that are due out at the end of March. The early predictions are looking awesome!    The oil window is about to open, the results to the west of Harrison seem to be positive.  Think back just two years ago, prior to the release of daya on the Buell well, it was considered speculation and everyone waited anxiously on Chesapeakes report.  Over 45 wells will be reported on this month a full 12 months worth of data.  IT is fully on in Ohio.  Folks with Gulfport, Hess, Chesapeake, Enervest, Rex and Antero already know...soon not only the Liquids window but the oil window will have true numbers released.

We fore-casted in 2009, following many hours of research and planing,we  laid out within our land management business, a prediction of where and when, how and why...basically stating, that the UTICA would dwarf the marcellus, in terms of value, if we hit the wet window and could hold pressures.  Thus far it is happening.

Look close at pressure...numbers do not lie, people do.  Read between the lines, this County is well/well on its way to being the core of the UTICA and will experiencing growth like never before, not just one town like Scio in the late 1890's or Cadiz in the coal boom..but the entire county,  from Germano to Harrisville..from West Chester to Bowerstown, from Piedmont to Hopedale and Freeport to Annapolis...all the county has opportunity to gain.

I see the population growing, the need for hotels has been here already, now we must look at multi-family housing. Better look out for all walks of life, lets protect ourself at the same time we must be open to change. The housing market has been steady in an upward climb and currently the demand for rentals has pushed rental value to $800 per month, double the average from 14months ago.  Doublewides renting out at $1200 a month.

What a great time to get into business.....did u ever think u could sell water for .03cents a gallon for a volume of 800,000 gallons...........if u want to be in business for yourself-look for chain stores, or mom and pop diners..look to laundry mats -car wash-clothing stores-outdoor furniture business, boat repair, bed and breakfast, office furniture, book-keeping services...someone needs to be going to each pad location with their traveling food service  truck.

The main stays have huge demand, such as-gravel ,limestone, sandstone, excavation jobs, trucking jobs, welding, engineering....keep it coming....before too long those folks in CBUS may wake up and realize where their bread will be buttered....Harrison County the HEART OF IT ALL!

Thank you Peter for the update notice. I don't know how detailed the map was before, because I could never get it to entirely load (satellite internet problems) but yesterday it loaded right up and is indeed very detailed and informative. Wow, are there a lot of capped old wells bracketing this township!

In case you haven't seen this before the ODNR has updated their oil/gas mapping feature so that it now includes parcel information, owner and acreage, as you zoom in to finer detail.

A couple of weeks ago a verdict was handed down in precedent-setting case involving mineral rights and the Ohio Dormant Mineral Title Act.  In Wendt v Dickerson, Nathan Vaughan of KWGD successfully argued that the Wendts own their minerals, since the ODMTA of 1989 applies in their case.  If anyone is or knows someone who is involved in a title dispute over minerals, or you want to learn more about the two different Acts in Ohio and which one applies in which cases, then click here to go to a thread in General Shale Discussions that has more information.

Gulfport released their 4th quarter and year-end financial report tonight. They are adding a third rig in early March and a fourth rig in April. Looks to me like they will be drilling multiple wells on the pads that already constructed, and waiting for late Spring or early summer to construct new pads. See the link...

Chesapeake Energy offers first estimate of production estimates for Ohio wells

By Bob Downing Beacon Journal staff writer Published: February 21, 2013 - 10:46 PM

Chesapeake Energy Co. remains very satisfied with the results it is seeing from its liquids-rich Utica shale wells in eastern Ohio. The Utica shale “will be solid for a lot of years to come,” company spokesman Steve Dixon said Thursday as the company held an earnings teleconference with analysts. Chesapeake, an Oklahoma-based energy company and the No. 1 driller in Ohio, also offered its first estimates on what those wells will produce. It is projecting what the industry calls estimated ultimate recovery (EUR) of 5 billion to 10 billion cubic feet of equivalents from each well over its lifetime in its core area of Carroll and surrounding counties. Those EUR estimates from Ohio . Marcellus shale in Pennsylvania. Chesapeake and another driller, Range Resources, both have reported EURs from the Marcellus shale as high as 4.2 billion cubic feet of equivalents (combined natural gas, liquid gas and oil from a well). The U.S. Geological Survey later reported that the average Marcellus well has an EUR of 1.1 billion cubic feet of equivalents.  As of Dec. 31, Chesapeake has drilled 184 wells in the Utica shale. Of that total, 45 wells are in production, 47 are awaiting pipelines and 92 are in various stages of completion. The company is operating 14 drilling rigs in Ohio and plans to average 14 rigs in 2013.  Chesapeake also offered production information on four wells that were completed in late 2012:  The Cain well in Jefferson County  s Springfield Township with 1,540 barrels of oil equivalents per day. That includes 6.7 million cubic feet of natural gas and 425 barrels of natural gas liquids (ethane, butane and propane).  The Walters well in Carroll County’s Perry Township with 1,140 barrels of oil equivalents per day. That includes 3.6 million cubic feet of natural gas per day, plus 315 barrels of oil and 220 barrels of natural gas liquids. • The Houyouse well in Carroll County’s Lee Township with 1,730 barrels of oil equivalents. That includes 5.4 million cubic feet of natural gas per day plus 525 barrels of oil and 305 barrels of natural gas liquids. The Coe well in Carroll County 's Lee Township is producing 2,225 barrels of oil equivalents per day. About one-third is liquids.    Chesapeake said it still holds $1.15 billion from its partnership with the French energy company Total SA and Texas-based EnerVest Ltd. It expects to use all of those funds over the next two years to fund drilling operations in Ohio.   Chesapeake said it expects to spend $6 billion to develop wells in 2013 in the Utica shale and elsewhere. About 11 percent of those funds are slated for the Utica. It ranks third behind the Eagle Ford shale in south Texas and the Anadarko Basin in Oklahoma and Texas. The company reported it reduced drilling costs sharply in 2012 and shortened the time it takes to drill a well in Ohio from 35 days to 22. Chesapeake is also proceeding to sell off noncore areas in eastern Ohio and elsewhere.  It also reported that last year it scaled back its drilling with the number of working rigs dropping from 164 rigs to 85.   Chesapeake is the No. 2 producer of natural gas in the United States and the 11th largest producer of liquids.    For the fourth quarter, the company reported a profit of $257 million, or 39 cents per share, on revenue of $3.5 billion.  bdowning@thebeaconjournal.com.
