yeah its the hall farm they called me about a month ago said they were permitting it around the first of the year .

Gary Hall-The German Twp. farm you discussed, is that your farm? I was told by CHK about a year ago that the Hall pad would include my property in the unit. My farm is on Center Unity Rd.

Great information...

Thanks again Philip

Jerry, the units are not always rectangles, sometimes they snake around parcels that they don't have the lease on.  Such as the CHK Shaw well: http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/mineral/oil/MRMImages/17/1/221125.pdf

Comment by jerry allen on December 21, 2013 at 11:48am

Thanks Philip.  If that is the case would a 640 acre pooled unit be the shape of a rectangle pointing in the direction of the laterals?

Comment by Philip Brutz on December 21, 2013 at 11:07am

Jerry, the laterals are commonly drilled in that direction because that is the way that the shale naturally fractures.

Can anyone explain why all the ODNR map lateral bores point to the North West or South East ?

Here's an interesting article about selling royalty rights.

The tax code provides some incentive if you're willing to move.
